So confused about my calorie count..Help..

Ok..Iam pretty new on here. I have been reading alot of postings on Calorie counting...I don't know if Iam doing good at this or not...I alway have calories left in the green, I though I had to have the calories that I have from excersie left, and at least 550 calories a day from this to lose 1.5-2 lbs aweek....ohhh...so confuesd...now I read you have to eat back your excerise Cals....please if anyone would like to help me..please feel free to check out my dairy and please let me know..thanks:))))

You need to calculate your daily intake (and deficit) based not only on your BMR but including execise.

I'm confused too. I don't use all of my calories usually, but I am eating a lot of fruits and veggies. Is this ok or do I still need to eat all of my calories, including my calories from exercise???0

I don't eat my excercise cal's back. Some times I partly, but most of the time, not. I lost 10 punds in 4.5 weeks. Not eating them back works quiet fine for me.
I am doing P90x, and as far as I know, you just calculate your calorie need for the levels, and that's it. But I have to admit, I never calculated the cal's in the nutrition guide. I am making my own meal plan every day, or every other day for the next days.0 -
I don't eat back all of my exercise calories, just enough so that I have at least 1200 a day net. eating all of them back is hard for me as I don't have a lot in my house to choose from and don't have the money to eat that much. I am consistently losing 1 pound per week though so I know I must be doing something right.0

Thanks for posting this, i too am confused by the whole eating exercise calories back. However, when you think about it, a calorie defecit has already been creaty by mfp. I will do my own calculations for my daily calorie intake. Didn't realize losing weight was complicated (gain weight wasn't hard at all).0

MFP already gives you a calorie deficit so you should be meeting your calorie goal every day. When you exercise you should be eating at least some, if not all your exercise calories.0

Sorry, but this is completely wrong.
People, if you want to see exactly how MFP calculated your calorie goal, go to your GOALS tab. It's all right there.
When you signed up to MFP, MFP calculated your BMR. You were asked to select an "Activity Level" that represents your normal workday at your job (NOT including your intentional exercise/workouts).
MFP then adds the BMR calories and the "Activity Level" calories to dertemine how many calories you burn in a day. From this, MFP subtracts calories to get Your Daily Calorie Goal. So your calorie deficit is built-in to Your Daily Calorie Goal. If you selected.5lbs per week weight loss, it subtracts 250 calories. If you selected 1 lb per week weight loss, it subtracts 500 calories. If you selected 2lbs per week, it subtracts 1000 calories.
So for example, if you want to lose 1lb per week, the formula looks like this:
(BMR calories + Activity Level calories) - 500 = Your Daily Calorie Goal
You will lose weight even if you NEVER exercise.
On days that you exercise, the fomula looks like this:
(BMR calories + Activity Level calories + Exercise Calories) - 500 = Your Daily Calorie Goal
MFP has set you up to have a CONSISTENT calorie deficit whether you exercise or not.0 -

Your NET calories (on your home page) should be as close to the daily goal MFP set for you as possible.
Your REMAINING calories (on your food diary page) should be as close to zero as possible.
MFP builds in a deficit for you based on the information you gave it: height, weight, lifestyle, goal weight loss, etc.). All you need to do is follow the calorie goals it gives you.0 -

I would say to start eating your exercise calories every day for a week and see how it goes. For most people they do need to eat all the calories they burn to see consistent weight loss.0

So - the NET should be as close to your calorie goal MFP sets up for BEFORE your exercise.

Goal Food Exercise = Net
1200 1682 - 736 946
So my GOAL should be to get my NET to 1200?0
