Feel like I should be doing more

My goal per day is 1290 calories, and then on days where I exercise, I tend to do about 350 to 450 calories of exercise to add on top.

Today for example, I can have 1640 calories.

I have already done this. Its 9:45pm and I feel like I should jump on the cross trainer here at home, but obviously I'm not going to eat anything more just before I go to bed. Also, I'm not hungry.

Anyone else feel like this? Any advice?

go for a run. It is only a recommendation to eat your extra calories. In general you don't want to have too great a defecit but if you feel like pumping out an extra mile or 20 minutes more cardio - go for it! All the power to you, the harder you work (in general) the better results you will get!
  • I feel like that ALL THE TIME! My problem is that I can't sleep if I work out that late. I am assuming I am releasing endorphines and it keeps me awake...however, I usually have limited time to get the walking in! Good luck, do what you feel your body needs to stay healthy and lose weight! Good luck an SWEET DREAMS!

I would relax and not worry about it too much. I don't always feel like eating my exercize calories either. I do try to eat about half and as long as I net 1150-1200, I'm ok with that. I'm only 5' 1" so I don't need as many as others. One other thing, maybe you are not hungry or tired because you are over estimating your exercize intensity. Perhaps do a little research to evaluate whether you really are burning 350-450 calories during your exercize.

A lot of us feel this way. Exercise seems to be quite addictive :)

Just keep in mind that you can get completely fit & ripped doing appx 1.5 hours of cardio and 2 hours of strength training per week. A little more cardio isn't too bad, especially when you're aggressively burning fat, but A LOT more cardio will probably get you burning muscle which is undesirable. And a lot more strength training is counter-productive, as your muscles need time to rest & heal after you work them.
  • If you want to exercise more because it makes you feel good and/or if you want more and faster results, then it seems like a good idea. Its just that 9:45 pm seems like time to go to bed and it got me thinking. I just want to share that sometimes overweight people, and I'm referring to myself first and foremost, can be secret perfectionists and that is something that needs to be changed as much as our eating habits. Its our attitudes that set the stage for our behavior. If we eat too much of something or eat the wrong thing, we figure we blew it anyway so we might as well eat another half a cheesecake while we're at it. If we can't do it perfect then we don't think its worth doing it at all so we just keep on packing on pounds. On the flip side, if we begin dieting and exercising, we can continue the perfectionist attitude and make sure that we diet and exercise PERFECTLY. The only problem is, if we slip up then the pendulum can swing the other way and we can too easily give up. I'm not saying its a problem for everybody or even that perfectionism is always bad or always manifests itself in this way. I just want to share that I think it can be important to look at your attitudes and feelings when losing weight so that you can do some mental reprogramming if you find you have attitudes that could hinder long term weight loss and maintenance. . I hope I got my point across because my post seems pretty wordy.
