My e-mail got hacked!!! How did this happen?? What can I do? I changed my password just now.

    My yahoo account got hacked on Thursday! I can't imagine why anyone would want to. I use that account for MFP messages and one girfriend emails me on it.

    I don't really send out e-mails, just get mostly crap anyway. I changed all my passwords on my sites, and nothing else seems ot have been touched. I guess it's just some kind of phishing thing. I hope no one "I " sent it to clicks the link! I sent out a beware e-mail too.

    my yahoo got hacked too not long ago! it was sending viagra advertizements to all of my friends including my grandmother! :explode: and now i can't delete it because yahoo says theres a child accountconnected to it. i had my daughter connected to my account for security reasons on her part. but even after deleting her account it still says a child account is attatched to the account. Yahoo has turned to crap! grrrr :grumble: good luck!!:flowerforyou: hope you can figure it out :huh:

    have you tried to delete the account and sent a mass email to all your contacts to inform them?

    I didn't delete the account, but i did send a mass e-mail. I went back and looked and it only sent to strange e-mails. I only recognized 2 of them.

    Yahoo sucks. I know 5 people who's accounts got screwed and we all use gmail now. The layout is very different but most people like it better once you get used to it! I love gmail personally. The grouping of replies into conversations makes your inbox neater, and the label system is better than the folder system most providers use.

    Hotmail and Yahoo routinely get hacked. I only have one contact on my "spam" mail accounts....my own. When I get an email from myself I know my account got hacked, and I am not sending out spam to any other contacts. I have a word doc that has all my email, street addys, phone numbers etc. on it, and I cut and paste as needed on any "spam" accounts. I have a handfull of contacts on my ISP mail account, the ISP has a filter and anti virus, as well as my own firewall and anti virus, so not much gets through there.
