HELP....can not exercise right now

I hurt my knee yesterday during a Zumba class. I honestly should have known better, but I am trying to get my body into shape. I have been averaging 10 miles a day on a bike, I can not even do that right now. Last time I hurt my knee, I gained 40 pounds quickly! Partially b/c of medicine the Dr put me on but mostly due to depression. I am worried sick this time. I do NOT want to gain weight and I still want to lose weight.
I can't do situps b/c right now if I get down on the ground I do not think I could get back up. I am going to the specialist tomorrow PM.
Anyone have any suggestions? I am going to lift weights with my arms (while I am in a sitting position)
However, I still need to burn calories!

Try no impact activities like swimming and the bike, or, if you can't do situps, some upper body weight training.0

Try swimming, that has no impact on any of your joints but if you cannot do that then you're better off resting it until it gets better but consume a fewer calories (only a few!) and continue with strength training, such as lifting and exercising your upper body part.0

Truthfully about 80% (or more) of weight loss is directly related to your food consumption. i lost the first half of my weight just by controling my calories and ensuring I was eating only clean and healthy food with no exercise at all (worked lots so just didn't fit it into my day at the time).
You can easily still lose weight temporarily by diet alone.0 -
I injured my back very seriously a few month back and couldn't do ANY workouts other than gentle stretches for my back
I still lost 18 pounds though by just being extra extra careful with my calories for two months. Take the time off, it is so important to heal otherwise you'll just hurt yourself again.0 -
Throw some boxing punches. I always feel like an idiot doing this while I'm sitting down, but you can actually break a sweat!0

This may sound silly but when I hurt my knee a while back I did leg raises in the bathtub because I didn't have access to a pool! LOL It really helped. I was able to lay back in the tub and do leg raises in the water.0

How many calories a day did you allow yourself? Did you count Fat grams at all?
Thanks in advance!!!0 -
i broke my foot and had to stop working out. i think you should focus on your food intake and just eat as much raw food as possible. it's super yummy and healthy and makes the weight melt off.0

Lower your calorie intake and try swimming...Use a pull boy to keep your legs still, you will get a great upper body workout along with cardio.0

If you stick to you MFP calories, you can lose weight without exercise. Exercise in MFP allows you to eat more calories, and it helps your body to become more fit as you lose the fat. The suggestions about swimming and the like are right on for activity. It takes the weigh off your joints and allows you to be active.0
