A very interesting article about the importance of strength training (primarily with weights), and why you might be getting your exercise routine backward...

i read that earlier today. It was interesting. 10 min cardio...30 min strength, then 30 minutes cardio for most effective burn. I like thought process of burning off the blood's sugar supply so the body has to harvest the fat for a fresh supply. I'm thinking I'm going to start trying it.

Yeah, I definitely think I will try this, too. I definitely lose more and lose it quicker when I do more weight lifting. Also, I like the verse in your signature!

    Awesome read!

I've felt the effects and am getting the results having followed this regime the last 9 weeks.

I start with a 10 minute warm-up on the bike, followed by a 30 min weight training session with my trainer. After the session, I commit to a 45-60 min cardio workout on the treadmill. Feels great finishing up the cardio and cooldown. :) Down 18 lbs!

    Interesting read. Thanks for sharing!

Other than a few times here and there, I've never really tried to do my strength training before my cardio. I've always felt that strength training would lessen the quality of my runs. I may try to mix things up a bit, especially since I kinda already suck at running.

On strength days, ALWAYS do the strength training FIRST and burn off the rest of your energy with cardio! Warm up for about 5-10 min. with some cardio, do your strength training, then if time (and energy) permits....blast the rest of the fat cells with a good cardio burn out!!
