Kettlebell exercises

Hi there,
I started this last year but never kept it up so here goes im trying again! have 14lb to lose and its so hard! was wondering if anyone else is doing a kettlebell workout? Cant get exact calories used on a workout as it varies with how much the kettlebell weighs! one site says 20 calories per minute! is that possible? I use a 9lb kettlebell and do workout dvd for 40 min or so. Anyone have an idea how much calories used in that time? Looking forward to hearing your views!:smile:

    Also, youtube has loads and loads of videos etc for kettlebell workouts and tips, and they're free!

    I love kettlebells, and use them instead of dunbells whenever I can :)

    I do Jillian Michaels shred it with weights with a 15 lb KB. It's a 30 minute workout and I burn about 300 cal according to my HRM. It's a great workout. I would give yourself 300 cals. It may be more, but I usually under estimate just to be on the safe side. Good luck!

    I don't really understand why people say they're are burning massive calories doing kettlebell workouts...I'm doing JM's Shred it with weights as well and I use a 15lb kettlebell. In 30 minutes, at best I burn 175kcal! Last night I only burned 145! Is there something wrong with my HRM??

    Jillian isn't really the greatest for kettlebells. Check out youtube and search for kettlebell queen. She does 24kg bells and she's maybe 110 lbs. All she does are kettlebells and her form and techniques are amazing (read: you won't hurt yourself) I started KB with Jillian and hurt myself doing her suggested form.

    A kettlebell swing done correctly should ramp up your heart rate quickly, and I started with a 10 lb :smile:
