I've read about cleanses as a jump start to a clean eating plan. I even bought a 14 day from GNC and did it back in June. I thought it helped a lot, but now I'm getting back in my old, eating whatever habits. I've read that you can do one every three months, I know clean eating is a lifestyle choice, but what do you thing about cleanses??

Fads and wastes of money. They don't work, period.
Start your new eating habits and your body will adhere.
And what's wrong with eating what you want? You are aware fat loss comes from a caloric deficit.... not if you choose celery over a pop-tart.

This. Eating the foods you want shouldn't be difficult. You can easily adjust your foods to hit your calorie goal by focusing on nutrient dense food over calorie dense, but you don't have to eliminate the calorie dense food if you enjoy it. Just make it fit in your daily goal through portion control.
And if you can't do that without a cleanse, you need to work on your willpower; cleanses do nothing except waste money.0 -

I for sure need to work on my willpower. Eating better and working out. I hate all of it. haha. I have to want it, I get it. I'm trying. One step at a time. Habits need to be formed.0 -

You don't have to eat "better". Eat what you WANT!!!! Just make sure you fit it into your caloric allowance.
I've lost weight eating candy and pop tarts and put on mass with ice cream and cookies. It's about calories.
However, I carb backload. For me it means I get the majority of my protein / fat in the AM and evening and have a huge amount of carbs & protein at dinner and the rest of my carbs for late night snacking. It helps me with hunger control since I'm a bottomless pit.0 -
complete and total waste of time and money. Your body naturally cleanses itself. If you really want to aide in the flushing out process just drink a ton of water and save your money. Eat in a deficit and work out/move/lift more and you will reach your goals....0

Eating at a deficit is eating less calories than you burn. If you normally burn 2500 calories a day, and eat 2000, you're in a 500 calorie deficit.0 -
Eating at a deficit means eating less than your body needs to maintain.
TDEE = total daily energy expenditure. Eating this amount is where you would not gain or lose, it is the perfect amount to maintain, also called "maintenance calories"
To lose weight, you need to either eat less, or move more, or a combination of the both to create a calorie deficit.
MyFitnessPal calculates the amount you need to eat, not including exercise in its calculations. You would lose weight just by eating less.0 -

You're not an idiot so don't take it that way. You are new, and you are learning. We have all been there.
