I don't have any advice or tips, but am interested as well to know!0

I'm doing a Dual Action Cleanse with anti-bloat...anti- gas enzymes...so far...so good...just started yesterday morning. I think it is a good idea to do it to prepare to make the change to eating clean.0

my sweetheart swears by it and does it two times a year, at both the beginning and end of the cold seasons. he drops a fair amount of lbs, and claims to feel wonderful during the whole process. if you type in the recipe for a days worth, it comes to be about 1000 calories a day, which isnt that far from the 1200 mfp suggests.0

Increasing your fiber and water intake will do your colon much more good than maple syrup and lemon juice will. I personally wouldn't bother.0

Hey , I am new to the site, and have seen a lot of people talking about the Dual Colon Cleanse, can anyone please explain what this is about? I am interested in it! Help pls0

I tried it a few months ago and only lasted 5 days... it was torture! The salt water cleanse is the worst part so if you can find a way to cope with that it will be downhill from there. The caffeine-free herbal teas were my saving grace so stock up! Good luck0

I'm not a believer of the "colon cleanse". I really believe eating properly and drinking water our body takes care of business. Just thoughts from the old white haired lady.0

In the past I've taken the Dr. Natura clense (3 times). Each time I convinced myself that it worked and maybe I did lose a couple of pounds. Now I'm no expert but I think that if you've lived a life of bad habits, the stuff is going to get rid of excess waste in the body that's been sitting around for years because you're nutrition has been a hot mess.
If you're young, exercising (even walking frequently), drinking water and taking notice to what you're putting in your body, you're taking care of business naturally and money spent on a clense is money wasted.
No matter what the topic, there's a internet hype following it.0 -
Hi there fitness pal peeps,
I too want and plan to do the Master Cleanse. I met a fellow flight attendent co-worker who does it about 3 times a year and does the cleanse for 21 days each time.....She said she's done it for years and swears by it. I can't imagine not eating for 21 days but want to try the standard 10 days. I plan to start the 1st part of May (as I will be on vac). That way I can be home....should there be any accidents.......LOL. I am wanting to do this for 3 reasons. Too feel better, Detox and weight loss and to test my will power.
I've done some research and the Master Cleanse has been around since the 1940's so I wouldn't call it a "fad". I need to do more research on it though for my own self knowlege.
I think it's great to try things that may be new to others and we have the technology like MYFITNESSPAL to share it and have the courage to do it.
We are here to encourage each other not discourage...:happy:0 -
I'm so glad someone posted about this, I've been thinking of doing the same! I have a friend who highly suggested the lemonade clense...0

I know a few people that have done this. and I plan on starting it on Monday for the first time. Here's a the biggest tip I was given "buy baby wipes". I was gonna start it this week but remembered I'll be at Bamboozle Fest in NJ Friday - Sunday and figure it wouldn't be the best time to start something like this lol0

Beccastsfire - how did you get that photo of the lady in the different weights showing in your signature line? It is really cool.0

I made it in photoshop using the figures from mvm.com0 -
Oh okay.... WOW.... I can't get the "hang" of photoshop, lol.0

I would say don't do it. I used Advocare Herbal Cleanse every 90 days. It is uneventful and you still eat! It helps detox the kidneys, liver, and colon. It is formulated by the top dr. in the nurtition field!0

I tried doing the Master Cleanse for a few days earlier this year, and had to stop because the salt water flush was too much for me. I did not feel hungry, but am not a person with a large appetite to start with. I've read where some people do it by drinking the laxative tea in the morning and evening instead of doing the salt water flush in the morning -- if I can do it that way, I might try it again.
BTW, I am interested more in the cleanse than any weight loss, as most of the weight usually comes back when you start eating normally again after you do something like that. I would also like to do it as a way of getting off sugar and other junk food cravings.0 -
it comes to be about 1000 calories a day, which isnt that far from the 1200 mfp suggests.
How is that possible considering the only caloric item is maple syrup so that's about 600 cals or less depending on the type (I'm assuming high-calories, 100 per tbsp)???0 -
Your total calories depend on how many glasses of the mixture you drink a day. I did feel better after doing it for only a few days, and I wasn't even doing the Master Cleamse absolutely pure -- I ate a few bananas because I was concerned that I might not have enough energy for my exercise classes, and I also took multi vitamins
This website has info on how to do it: http://themastercleanse.org/
I would be interested in hearing other people's experiences..0 -

For the most part your body has all the organs you need to keep your system clean and toxin free. If there is something in your system that your body can't naturally handle, lemonade isn't going to clean it out.
What the master cleanse will do is mess with the flora in your intestine, and can actually kill off a lot of the beneficial bacteria that help keep your intestine healthy. Kind of counter productive if you are worried about colon health.
High fiber, whole foods, and lots of water.0 -

I love the Master Cleanse! I'm going to be doing it pretty soon. It is a great Spring cleanse. I've done it several times and I've decided that it is better for a spring cleanse as the weather is warming up. But in the fall, it's not so good. I'd rather do a soup cleanse.
Some tips that I've learned over the years:
1. Don't work out while fasting. You're only getting 1000 calories, this is no time to try to earn your Miss Universe title. Light walks, yoga, pilates are plenty.
2. Start on a weekend or a day off untill you get used to how you feel. The first 2 days are the hardest.
3. Don't give in and eat, then turn around and try to get back on track by doing a salt water flush the very next day. (Trust me)
4. Eat lightly and slowly get off caffiene a few days before you actually begin. Then follow the process of weaning off the fast too. Don't just go out and have a cheeseburger the day after. It was designed to wean you onto a vegetarian diet, so keep that in consideration when you are done.
5. You will lose weight. It is JUST water and poop and mucous. But you don't HAVE to gain it back as long as you wean back to solid foods correctly and don't overdo it.
6. Don't do it if you have any health problems, talk to your doctor first. And don't do it just to lose weight, thats not what it's designed for.
7. Make sure you take probiotics. When this was designed, probiotics hadn't been discovered. It is now recommended to take them in conjunction with the cleanse.
8. Dry brush your skin everyday. Helps prevent any breakouts and stimulates lymphatic flow. Plus, it leaves you feeling flawless.
9. Drink ALOT of water.
10. If you really want to, eating some fruit won't hurt the cleanse. But not too much. The point is to rest the digestive system. But a little fruit adds bulk and helps with energy if the lemonade isn't enough.
11. If the cayenne pepper doesn't agree with you in the drink, you can buy cayenne capsules and take it seperately. Just get the cayenne somehow, it really helps with the mucous.0 -
Draw your own conclusions. Here's some info to chew on:
"Nutrition experts say they’d like to see some scientific evidence the plans work. “I’ve never seen any published trials that would lead me to believe that if you are healthy, your lungs, kidney and liver need help removing toxins from your body,” says Colleen Doyle, director of nutrition and physical activity for the American Cancer Society.
Bauer, author of Joy’s Life Diet, says a fiber-rich diet of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, low-fat dairy and plenty of water can clean your system out much better than most packaged fasts or juice fasts.
There’s a reason fiber is called “nature’s broom,” says Keith Ayoob, a registered dietitian at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Nutritionists also are concerned that most cleansing diets are devoid of protein, which helps maintain muscle mass during weight loss.
Bonnie Taub-Dix, a spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association and a registered dietitian in New York City, agrees that the lack of protein in many such diets makes them nutritionally inadequate. “It’s like getting dressed and putting on three shirts and no pants. They may be nice shirts, but you are missing other critical things.”"0 -
Why would you want to put your health, body, and your diet in jeopardy doing something so dangerous as a cleanse. You body has a natural cleansing system called a liver, and kidneys. And it cleanses way better and for free! Cleanses have a way of screwing up your electrolytes, which can cause cardiac problems, and seizures, as well as many other problems.
Plus you spend all this money, get yourself sick, and the very first meal that you eat you are right back on square one. Don't waste your money and put your health and body in danger, it is NOT worth it!0 -
I have been hearing it's good to take probiotics when you are on the Master Cleanse. What does everyone think about eating a banana once or twice a day and taking vitamins while you are doing it? I am thinking about trying it again soon, and I want to make sure I have enough energy. The other time I tried, I just lasted a few days on it because the salt water flushes were making me sick at the stomach. I am not trying to lose weight with this as much as get the gunk out of my system. I am not planning to stay on it much more than a week, if that long.0

Also don't any fơod (no banana) because your digestion system will become active and you will get hungry ALL the time.
I'm going to do my spring cleanse next wêek if anyone wants to buđdy up.0 -
The new recommendation is to take probiotics as you taper off the cleanse and aren't doing the salt water flush. I think I stated it wrong in my post.
If I need to eat a banana I don't get hungry. But we are all different.0 -
I Just started today... I can't do the salt water, I've been nursing the same 32oz of water for hours... tomorrow I'm just gonna drink the tea in the morning instead of salt water lol.0
