wake up call

I am here because I want to keep track of my weight loss and to get any encouragement that I can get. I started out chunky as a child , lost a bunch of weight and looked great all through my teens through my 30s then I started to gain. I went from 160 to 230. I hovered around 225 or so for years. I am now in my early 60s and I have diabetes in my family. I am now prediabetic. I am scared that I will or already am diabetic. I being an RN, know how dangerous that disease is. When I finally decided to join a gym and the trainer measured my BMI, she told me that I was 47% fat. What a thought! She said having that much fat meant that it was around my heart and other organs. That was a wake up call!! I have started exercising in earnest and I have cut down my portions and almost have eliminated late nite eating.. I started last month and I have so far lost about 10 pounds.. Wish me luck!!

Good luck but frankly typing you don't need luck. You can do it. Keep your food diary, exercise a bit, maintain a calorie deficit more often than not and you will lose weight. Just don't become discouraged when the scale doesn't move for a few weeks. Your body is changing. Never quit, never give up.
