Baby Steps! Take one bad habit, cut it into quarters and work at overcoming it a little at a time. This will serve at least two purposes, you will be working towards your weight and feel good about yourself. Since you are familiar with MFP you know how to log your food so just look at small changes you can make initially and work from there. This will help these changes stick for the long run.

The trick I am finding (on month 3) is slowly changing bad habits, moderation, and thinking things through in terms of how your habits and behaviors impact your long term goals. I am no means perfect. Despite eating fairly well, meeting calorie objectives on most days, and regular exercising commitments, I occasionally fall off the wagon...maybe every 10 days or so. Last time was last Friday after visiting my dying Dad and then went home and drank two high calorie beers and about 6 shots of whiskey.

Just the same, I signed up at my local community center and attend zumba one night and tai chi another. I'm the only guy in zumba, and I'm old, but who cares? I burn like 600 calories in an hour there and it MAKES me go and participate. I walk everyday at work during lunch...I watch my macronutrients and manage to keep my carb intake lower than my protein intake. And I watch SODIUM. Very important to me. Diversify your workouts and diet items so you don't get bored with it. Find contacts here that will keep you ENGAGED. I found a fitness coach on here and will be participating in the 90 Day Holiday Slim Down Group on facebook's TD Nation. It ultimately comes down to you and how badly you wish to succeed.

Set your goals and then commit, doing whatever it takes. But slow and steady wins the race...don't mess up your metabolism by starving yourself. There is great advice here...just ask, read, and find the right people to support you. :)

    Good Luck.
