Raw Food

Options
Anyone eating a raw food diet? I am eating plenty of food but under my daily calories. Plants don't have a lot of calories. Nuts are high in calories but also fat so I'm trying not to eat too many. Anyone find it hard to meet the daily calorie allotment?

    Fat = regulated hormone function.
If you don't like nuts then get some advocados and coconut.

If you are having trouble meeting your calories, why not add nuts? They are healthy for you and SO tasty!

I eat raw foods all the time. Fresh salads, fresh fruit, raw nuts. I even have this recipe for raw apple crumble that is too perfect for words.

But a completely, uncompromising, raw food only diet? I'd blow my brains out. No soup? Brown rice bowls? Dairy-free ice cream? I'd rather stick to artificial-free vegan and keep it at that.

If you JUST switched to raw vegan after being your typical omnivore, it seems like a recipe for failure.

If you REALLY want to be raw though, just don't start a tumblr blog about it. Please.

how can you do brown rice bowls, while raw? AFAIK we can't digest dried rice grains.

They stated that they could not do an all-raw diet, and listed the foods they would have to give up to pursue one.

Thanks for the feedback. I started eating half an avocado and added a Raw Revolution bar with nuts. I'm trying to eat plant-based so the raw beef won't fit. As for starting a tumblr LOL. Maybe! But, I'm too busy right now. I did start a group on here to talk about eating raw food and plant-based. Also to share green smoothie recipes. I have to find the link...

My friend makes bo tai chanh (Vietnamese carpaccio with citrus juice and hot chiles), and OH MY GOD.
I could eat a pound of that in one sitting.

Eat more fruit, it is higher in calories. I was completely raw for three months and loved it. I also ate more fat than recommended. I also found it difficult to maintain the high calorie recommendations. My skin was radiant and the softest it had ever been.

I am guessing you have already checked out the links below...

    His adjadj,

I know nothing about a raw food diet, so here's some questions.

Are you trying to eat low fat, or just trying to make sure you don't go over your fat macro?

Do you have a food scale? If so, weigh out those portions of nuts when you eat them so you don't eat more than you intend to.

Do you like Greek yogurt? Fruits? Cottage cheese? These can bump your calories up so that your eating plan is sustainable.

It makes no logical sense unless of course you drank the kool-aid and have seen the light. j/k
