ideas for low carb high protein/fiber SWEET breakfasts?

For a long time I was eating eggs and meat and vegetables for breakfast (like a half cup of eggbeaters, some broccoli, and some chicken, ect), and I've had really great results eating like that (dinners are similar although a little more carby). However, in the past few months I can't stomach the thought of anything savory for breakfast - I want sweet. I've been having one of those Fiber One Streusel bars, and while they're delish, it's not really the nutritional profile I want to be eating in the morning. I'd still like to eat something low carb high fiber high protein when I wake up.. but is there anything like that (under 400 cals) that's sweet?

I freeze two bananas overnight (usually are around 200 grams), in the morning mash them up, add 28 grams of almonds and 32 grams of crunchy almond butter and a teaspoon of cinnamon. You can easily cut it in half and save calories cause this comes up to 500 calories. Using one banana instead of two saves around 90 calories, or using 16 grams of almond butter instead of 32 saves 90 as well. It's super filling though! I usually have it around 7 am and don't feel hungry again till 10:30/11!

Greek yogurt is sweet. Fake sugar ones have fewer carbs. Throw in some almonds (healthy fat) & a bit of fiber cereal.
Chobani 100 has chicory root added for fiber - since FiberOne bars don't bother you....that would work.
Raspberries although not low carb have great fiber numbers. Prunes, dates & figs. A little may go a long way.0 -
Quest bar? That's what I eat for breakfast every day. They are 200cal or less so just enough to get me going but the high protein fills me up.
And their high fiber content ahem.. gets me going shortly afterward.0 -
What about some kind of hearty oatmeal + hard boiled eggs? I like to take ~1/3 cup steel cut oats, 2/3 cup original (NOT unsweetened) almond milk, and add in a diced peach or some frozen fruits. Overnight, it breaks down and hydrates the oats a bit, and the fruit helps sweeten it along with the almond milk. I either do this, or eat one of those Belvita Blueberry bars for breakfast if I'm in a rush. Always bring 2-3 hard boiled eggs along for a protein-filled snack.
It's pretty chewy, so you want to microwave it, let it warm up at room temperature for ~20 mins or so and nuke it for 2-3 mins. I think the oatmeal works out to be around 300 cals depending on the fruit.0 -
Nouurann that sounds delicious actually. I wonder if I could chop up some fresh kale or spinach and add it in - I really like to get in some veggies with my breakfast. I might try that tomorrow, I've got bananas that need eating anyway.
Cinnamon counts as sweet, and I'm fine with fake sweeteners.
threnjen - I wish I could do Quest bars, there's a few I like, but they make me sick to my stomach
Maybe some cottage cheese with half coconut sugar and half splenda or nectresse, and some nut butter and chopped greens... I shall have to experiment.0 -
RibStabsHeart - I might be able to do a hard boiled egg if I was eating something sweet alongside it.... that's a good idea, I love hard boiled eggs but I never think to eat them for some reason. I'll boil some up today for breakfast tomorrow.
Anyone know how long a hard boiled egg keeps in the fridge? I'm thinking 2-3 days?0 -
If you keep them in the shell, I don't have any problem eating them up to 5-7 days afterwards. I'll usually make some up Friday or Saturday and use them throughout the week. A little salt and pepper or hot sauce = MMM!
I eat a ton of fruit, which helps me keep the sugar cravings at bay. Not all the time, but sometimes0 -
I can't eat fruit - well for one I don't like most fruit, but when I do eat it (except for bananas), it just makes me ravenous. I can be fine, just a little hungry, eat an apple, and 20 minutes later I'll be hungry for a big dinner.
I don't mind liking/wanting sweet stuff, I don't see it as a problem, I just need to figure out some sweet breakfasts.
Maybe some low carb pancakes and add in some spinach or kale & top with nut butter...0 -
You could always make some almond meal blueberry muffins or almond meal banana bread. There's a coconut flour banana bread that is really good. I make a ricotta cheese hot "cereal" that is to die for. You could make low-carb cheesecakes in small jelly jars and have a week's worth in the fridge for breakfast. Search Pinterest for either Grain Free/Gluten free breakfast and/or Paleo treats/breakfasts to get some ideas.0

I usually do oats with honey and either a protein shake or scrambled eggs/cheese.
I don't struggle to make my protein/carb/fat macros but I struggle to get fibre, low carb days I'll barely make 10g - high carb days, depending on the food, I might get 15.
So if you're looking for a fibre boost I've just recently found (I'm in Australia) "Goodness Superfoods - Fibreboost" its a muesli bar with 15g carbs but 9g of that is fibre!! I was looking at any other muesli bars while shopping and they all had 15g carb with 1g fibre and yet they were promoting themselves as a high fibre source. lolnooo.0 -
Sometimes I'll have "PB&J" cottage cheese... PB2 and some strawberry or blackberry jam mixed in with it
Also put the same thing on my pancakes. Or lite cool whip on my waffles with some chopped fruit.
There's always desserty smoothies too. Pumpkin puree, protein powder, almond milk, greek yogurt, pumpkin pie spice, ice (if you want), blend... if you're into the pumpkin everything thing LOL. I also do it with banana and cinnamon instead of pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice.
Could add stuff into your oats too. Protein, egg whites, fruit, honey or cinnamon sugar etc.

Not low carb but oats with some nut butter fill me up for hours, and it's less than 350 calories (and you can add fruit too to increase the fiber, although you said you don't eat them). You can add egg whites to boost the protein content too.0
