Hello! I am new to MFP and I wanted some advice. I currently practice softball 5 days a week for 2 hours each day. It is not that physically demanding but I find that I am a bit sore some days. I want to lose some weight, fat, and gain muscle before spring rolls around so I can be faster and better. Which one would be better to fit my goals? Insanity or beginning to run/jog? I am about 182 pounds and 5'6.

Thank you!

If you want to hold me responsible for my food choices, add me :D.

For me, Insanity toned me up, but I didn't lose but two pounds the entire time I did it. Running helped me lose weight. So, it depends if you would rather lose weight or tone up. I am running now. When I get a certain weight, I will do the Insanity Challenge again. There's my two cents. LOL

Calorie deficit is how you will lose weight. Exercise is just for health, so just do what you like. I would think insanity would be better though as it will be more varied and more muscle work than just running.

I cannot physically run long enough to burn the same number of calories I burn in an Insanity workout, so that would be my recommendation. Obviously, the way you eat will determine weight loss, though. People who do Insanity and don't eat in a way that is conducive to weight loss will not lose weight doing it.
