Hello all,
I started tracking my calories again for a second time using mfp. My first attempt a year sgo left me very frustrated. I am 46, 252 pounds, female, 5ft 5 tall. To lose 2 pounds weekly mfp gave me 1240 cals daily. I swim 1 mile every other day (breaststroke) and I average the mile in 60 mins. Other than that my life is sedentary.
Because it is very difficult to estimate calories burned whilst swimming and i'm not too sure that the calculations offered by various calculators are correct, I had a very difficult time in achieving a 10 pound loss over 4 months.
I have been reading posts regarding BMR/TDEE and when I do the calculations the numbers seem very high.I was hoping that someone with more knowledge on this subject could assist me in finding my calculations so that I know roughly where to aim for in terms of calories to eat. I have quite alot of weight to lose and so it's paramount that I at least get a good start and it would certainly increase my motivation level because I wouldn't feel like I don't know where to start.
Any help/advice would be massively appreciated,
Thank you

I ran your numbers on iifym and got a TDEE of just over 2000 and a BMR of 1700. Eating below your BMR is not recommended so this may be your issue with only losing 10 lbs in 4 months. If you eat at your BMR, this will get you a net loss of 300 calories per day (on days you don't swim). At this rate it will take you an average of 11.5 days to lose a pound (-3500 calories). When I swim a mile I burn 700 calories as estimated by my Garmin, but myfitnesspal only gives me 400-500, I average 40 minutes but would think that the extra time you swim would make up for the difference in speed. So if you factor in 500 calories every other day this would put you at losing one pound per week. Hopefully this helps.0

Why did you start ANOTHER thread on this? Didn't like the info the people were giving you on the first one? SMH!!!!!
Just to be clear, no, it wasn't a case of 'I didn't like the replies on the other thread' I actually posted this one first and then realised that maybe I had posted in the wrong section. I hope that my explanation has settled your anxiety and thus lowered your blood pressure.0 -
hey there this is my first time to post on a discussion group. I need some advice. I just started following iifym and its very interesting. however my goal is 2600 cals a day,. I it ok if I ate 3 quest bars a day and fit them in my macros and my other meals be more nutrient like grilled chicken or fish with sweet potatoes. also what happens of I exceed my fiber limit will it cause too much problems.?
