Would you wear a sundress if you had big legs?

Ok so I haven't worn a dress since I was in elementary school (besides my prom and wedding dress, but those are huge and poofy.. I mean a normal dress) and I have always been jealous of those that could.
The reason I never wore a dress was because my tummy is two different sizes.. I have my upper tummy, a slim waist and a lower tummy like a mini apron (but it's not as bad as it sounds.. but it looks kinda funny like a snowman).
Well I found the most gorgeous dress that has what's called an empire waistband that starts under the "boob's" and flows out.. and completely hides my weird tummy shape! I feel in love today.
The problem is.. I have huge legs... I haven't lost many inches on them yet.. and they are very big.. 28' on the top to be exact. I have always been unconfortable wearing shorts and stuff because of how big they were.. but I love this dress so much...
So my question to all of you is.. would you wear the dress and show off your huge legs, try to put on pantyhose (not sure that'd look to hot.. it looks like a sundress and it's white), or just wait until you loose more weight?
And guys out there... what would you think if you saw a girl with big legs trying to sport off a sundress like this? It comes down to a little above my knee's.. shows nothing off.. but fat legs. I just measured under my knee and it's 19' to give you a good idea.
Edit: I haven't bought it yet.. I was just thinking if it was worth trying to ask for as a gift sometime.. my mom did say she'd buy me a dress sometime when I fit in one... not sure if she was telling the truth but hey I can hope!

Me neither, but I think it's because of the hair. <G>0

That dress makes you feel good!!!! BUY the dress and WEAR the dress!!! If you are super worried...stick on a eye catching necklace..draws peoples eyes up!! Either way....GET IT!!!!0
-
I say wear it ....it's your prerogative!0
-
Ok, first of all...I have HUGE legs. Like, even when I was skinny I couldn't wear cute boots because my legs are so ginormous. So, to answer your questions.....I wear whatever I want! I am not a huge fan of dresses just because I don't find myself to comfortable in them however, I have a couple and I do wear them. As for the guys...my husband thinks it's hot when I wear them. He's not looking at my calves LOL0

If you feel good when you have it on, I say buy it! Confidence can make any outfit work.0
-
Well, my thighs are 27", and I'd say go for it. But then again, my calves are 15" and I have nice knees. So it really all depends on how confident YOU feel in the dress! If you fell in love with the dress and think it looks amazing on you, for gosh sake WEAR it and ROCK it!! Your opinion is the only one that counts!0

Also, pantyhose are ridiculous. Do not wear pantyhose with a sundress. That is all. LOL0

I feel you! I want to wear boots but I can't get them zipped up! GRRR! It's annoying!0 -
BUY IT!!!! I am big, and I wear dresses all of the time in warm weather. Funny that you bring this topic up. I wore a dress to work, (I change into hosptial supplied scrubs due to infection control when I get to work) Some ***** I work with asked me yesterday where my dress was and laughed. I don't care... I wore another one today!!!! Where what you want, and what you feel comfortable in.0

I don't care what size you are, dresses flatter everyone!!! Chances are that the last place that an empire waist A-line dress will draw attention to is your legs! I love the way I feel when I wear a dress! If it makes your mid section look good, then go for it!!! If you love it then get it...AND WEAR IT!0

Yeah I figured, but hey I'm not fashion model lol thought I'd ask.0 -
Don't let things like thinking your legs are too fat stop you from doing fun things. It's fun to wear a cute dress. It feels great in the summer to go with bare legs and a pretty sundress. You have come so far. I can see from your picture that you are a beautiful young girl. Let yourself be young and carefree and do things that make you feel special.
Don't be too critical of yourself. Love yourself for how far you have come and how hard you worked to get here.
Girl, buy that dress! Put it on with some cute sandals and a big smile and walk out your door to meet life. Let us know what happens.0 -
If' it'll lift your spirits and makes you feel pretty when you wear it, I say go for it!! Because if YOU like the dress and feel great in it, doesn't matter what ANYONE else thinks! There's always a part of our body that bugs us far more than it does anyone else so enjoy the dress when you get it and wear it like a Princess. :flowerforyou:
ETA: Congratulations on the awesome loss!!0 -
DO NOT WEAR PANTY HOSE WITH A SUNDRESS!!
Otherwise Rock it!
See profile picture (plus I have your "tummy issue I basically have an indent across my tummy right at the Belly button line that is obviouse in anything clinging to me but you can see my dress is form fitting)0 -
I'm big. And I love wearing dresses. I say get it AND wear it! ROCK IT!0

Do it! I have huge legs too, and when I eloped, I wore a dress that was just at my knees.0 -
Do it!! I had never owned or worn a dress till the end of last year and now i have 4 of them. I also have big legs and will never wear boots.
If you are comfortable and confident that will shine through!!0 -
For those wanting boots that will actually fit, try DUO Boots (http://www.duoboots.com/products/boots/). You can buy them in a wide range of calf sizes, they ship internationally, and they look great. Also, I find the combination of knee-high boots and an appropriate knee-length dress is a great way to feel sexy and feminine while hiding chunky legs.0

Let me tell you I too have big legs but rather than looking at them as a flaw, I consider them an asset! Do you know how ridiculous I would look with stick legs carrying around this yummy goodness?? BTW I just bought 5 dresses @ Old Navy 4 of which are knee length, and I plan to rock all summer. Yes I realize they need work but honey I'm gonna show my sexy legs!!!!0
-
Hard to judge really, it sounds like the perfect dress! But if in doubt, can you not go back with a friend/family and get their honest opinion? Or bring a camera, take a photo of yourself in it and decide at home?
Or what about those cropped leggings, just below the knees, would that look nice with it?0 -
I wouldn't say anything. I might think "oh, she has quite big legs", if I noticed at all, which is unlikely, because I am self-centred and *****y. You should mentally tell me to go **** myself, and wear it anyway. For, I have skinny legs whatever size I am, but the pale-skin/dark-hair combo means I don't like wearing short stuff either.0

Oh, it so does. All my extra weight goes on my stomach, so I look a bit more like humpty dumpty, the more I weigh.0 -
wear it!!!!!! I have 25" thighs, and I live in dresses, if you feel a bit uncomfortable because of the length wear some tights(that always helps me) and if the dress is really short maybe some leggings?? But to be honest, who cares as long as you feel confident and good in it, no1 will even notice.

I say buy the dress and feel good about yourself. Don't worry about what someone might say or think. If you feel good in it then wear that baby proudly! :flowerforyou:0

Oh! I love the idea.. and if there is actually a size that would fit me, I'd be so happy! I will check out this website when I have time on the computer! Thanks!0 -
Go with how you feel. If youfeel good wearing it, then by all means, do so. If it makes you feel really self conscious (bad) dont wear it. Why do that to yourself? I am really shy about my arms. They are HUGE! Therefore, I never go sleeveless.0

I have great looking legs, but I still can't pull off a sundress.0

wear what you want but most importantly what makes you feel good ...0
