I may sound whiny, but dang it!! My crappy luck had to hit when my weight loss was doing great and in full swing. I was so motivated and was doing so well with my workouts. I have lost 15 lbs and was beyond stoked. I was jogging 3 days a week, push mowing my yard every chance I got and doing intensive yard work on Sundays. Then… it happened. From what the doctor tells me, I had an allergic reaction to something. I randomly get a red splotch on my face (next to my nose usually), but I have very sensitive skin, but never any break outs or anything bad. I thought it was one of many things, but hadn’t narrowed it down, but at that point it was a tiny red spot. I switched birth control, face wash, lotion. Then I hosted a park clean up at the park my children and I play at quite a bit. I was also jogging at the park 2-3 days a week when the weather was nice. The park is filled with pine trees and I have an allergy to evergreens (yes, I was aware of this). I tend to ignore what I should do and do what is more fun, for me that is going to the park. Anyhow, my red splotch turned into an explosion across my face (not a good look for me).
I did a full round of oral antibiotics and topical already and it still hasn’t gone away. Moral of my story? My doc told me NO SWEATING until it is 100% better. I went against his wishes and did my first 5k last Saturday. This probably wasn’t a great idea b/c after that it got even worse. So today was trip number three to the doctor to fix my face. I am now on a 90 day script of antibiotics and the same topical antibiotics. Now I am not allowed to sweat OR be in the sunlight. Wtf? Nobody else is going to mow my yard, or any of the other stuff I do around my home. Now I can’t push mow the yard for exercise unless I cover all my extremities, well we know what will happen then, I’m really going to sweat. I am still eating under my calorie goal and trying to move around a lot, without breaking a sweat.
I need help, ideas of things I can do to keep the weight coming off. I haven’t lost any weight in a few days, I’m afraid I will fall off the “being healthy” wagon!! Sorry if I sound like a Negative Nancy or a whiny *kitten*, I don’t mean too, I am just so frustrated with all of this!! And looking like half my face has been burnt or something nasty isn’t a good look for me at all! Any advice is appreciated.

It's been awhile but if I remember correctly there are medications that if you are on them and go into the sun then it can give you a permanent stain. I'm guessing you don't want that, so I would listen to him. Sounds like you will need to keep some vampire hours for awhile- walks after dark? Hope you will feel better soon, that is no fun...

Weigh train. You wont break a sweat but it burns calories and helps your body burn more just sitting around. Stick to your calorie goal and you'll do just fine. It's not forever, and you have to get this under control. Best of luck to you and feel better ASAP!

    I agree - try swimming.

On a good note, you have the perfect excuse to make someone else mow your yard. Use it!

This may be a stupid question, what with all of the chlorine and other chemicals, but can you go swimming? You wouldn't sweat and if your community has an indoor pool you could get a good workout sans sunlight. I know it's a long shot given it's a skin sensitivity issue, but I thought i would throw the idea out there.

I'm sorry for you--it sucks to get derailed when you have been doing so well :frown:

Just keep eating under your calories and you'll still lose, just maybe not as quickly.

Pool = Sunlight last I checked

Also you should avoid chlorine and water if youre suppossed to avoid sweating the reason to avoidf sweating is because it spreads the oils around making her red splotches worse.

you can try putting baby powder on your face and getting the terry cloth headbands and putting them right where your hair meets forehead to reduce sweat dripping down.

Try mowing the lawn first thing in the AM or last thing at night when it is cooler anyway and dont go fast, if you only get half done its half that wasnt done before! (for the health of the grass/prevent killing it night is recommended anyway because the fresh cut blades arent exposed to harsh sunlight).

You can also switch to more Yoga and Pilates style excercsie/stretches to keep your muscles active w/o sweating

also bareminerals makes a "mineral veil" which is a natural baby powder that is powdery white with a slight skin tone in the container but goes on sheer, its designed to wick sweat off your skin and reduce shine with or without their other make-up I lov eit even when Im not wearing make-up

THe baby powder would be applied to your face with a blush brush so its too light for others to see its there.

Also on top of the terry cloth headband when mowing the lawn (if you absolutly have to) put on a baseball cap or hat

I hadn't even thought of swimming. I will call and ask about the chlorine, I do know I am not allowed in the river or lake. We have a lot of those around here, not a whole lot of pools. Walking at dark is an idea too, hadn't thought of that one either. Thanks for the ideas!! I'm just bummed I won't get a tan at all for at least 90 days, haha. Good thing pale is in right (trying to make myself feel better) LOL!!

He told me no make-up, scented soaps or lotion. It makes it suck even worse b/c I can't try to hide my red swollen face. Good thing it's poison ivy season and everybody seems to assume that's what my problem is :-)
