Initally weight loss is largely due to the loss of water weight, and you need to drink enough in order to avoid dehydration. Buring calories also requires water in order to function efficiently as dehydration can slow down the fat burning process. Also burning calories can create toxins within your body, and drinking a lot of water help your kidneys flush and filter them out of your body.
It really just always comes back to dehydration. When you are dehydrated there is a reduction in your blood volume which will cause a decrease in the oxygen supply to your muscles and cause fatigue.
Also a good diet should include fiber which helps your digestive system, but without enough water it can cause constipation. I find that the more water I drink too, the less hungry I feel between meals.
These are just a couple tibits, I learned through my degree. Hope it helps0
