Middle of the night hunger

Hi Everyone! So I want wondering if anyone had advice for the following; My boyfriend currently doesn't have a car/license so I have to pick him up from work every night. He usually gets off between 11pm and 1am (Depending on the day). I will go to sleep around 9 or 10 just so I am getting enough sleep, even if it is broken up. I don't mind this except that I wake up and I am hungry! My boyfriend works at a nice restaurant so he brings home food most nights and its hard to not eat some of it or something else. Obviously I know I can just not eat it and deal with the hunger but I hate going to sleep when I have hunger pains. A friend suggested decaf coffee would help - anyone know if that would? I don't want to be eating a bunch of calories at that time but again I don't want to go to bed being hungry. Thanks in advance!

Is your concern that you'd be eating late at night or that you're eating enough during those hours to go over your calorie goals? As long as you're within your calorie and nutrition goals and it doesn't cause you any sleeping problems, it's completely okay to eat when you get up to go get him.

Its going over my calorie goals. By then I have already ate my calories for the day, so maybe I need to save some and divide my meals into 4? I am just not sure what the best thing to do is.

This is one of those areas where the best thing to do is whatever works best for you.

I will drink decaf tea or coffee in the evenings just to have something in my stomach at night once I'm over my calorie goal, so yes, it might help you out. Though, sometimes the acidity of the coffee doesn't help my stomach. So you may have to try it and see if it works for you.

Saving some of your calories so that you can eat what he brings home would also be a good option. That might be a little harder to plan since I'm guessing you don't know in advance what he'll have with him? But you'd still be able to share at least some of it without going over.

Or you could save the calories and grab something like a protein bar or other snack when you leave to get him, just so that you know what you've planned to eat and maybe you'll be a little less tempted by the leftovers he brings home.

Just a few ideas. Others might have some more. I hope that you find something that works out for you! :flowerforyou:

First and foremost, I'd ask him to eat his food at work before you get him. That way the temptation is removed.

If you wake up and are hungry, try eating a couple of crackers and drinking some water. That should get rid of the hunger until you can get back to sleep.

Have you tried Flax seeds? I hear that might help with the cravings.

I usually save 50-100 calories so I can have a biscuit or two right before bed - to kill the hunger pangs. Maybe try this?
