Kids cake?

A friend of mine asked me to bake her a cake for her sons 4th birthday. I was thinking of making a cake that looks like a truck, any ideas on the best way to do this? Or any site you can suggest?

I am going to google right now but thought I would ask on here :)

Thanks

You could try going to a party store of some sort. They usually have different shaped cake molds that you can use.
  • The simplest way to do it, is bake using either a square or rectangular tin, then cut them and pile them up into a cuboid. then 2/3 along the top carve a smallish hole in a line across the width of it about an inch deep, this will create the difference betwwen the cabin and the actual lorry. hope that helps

You can use cookies as the wheels....sorry, thats all I have to offer.
  • Great ideas :) Thank you, I can't wait to start it. I used to work in a bakery and do cakes with toys n such on it, and airbrushing but I haven't done a cake in the actual shape of something. Plus I am doing this at home and I don't have all the neat equipment lol

Best site ever... includes pictures and details... real cakes you can make at home... I didn't know what kind of truck you wanted but they have firetrucks, dump trucks, monster trucks, etc...

I used cookies (Oreo's to be specific) for the wheels when I did my son's Firetruck. I also got the idea from the site that clintswife gave :) They have fantastic ideas!

Doughnuts would be more realistic for wheels.... especially the crueller kind if doing monster trucks
  • That is a great site! So many ideas! No crullers in this tiny town but I am sure I can work something out, going to try it out tonight and if not I have tomorrow to make adjustments :) *yay* excited to start!!

    Thank you so much! :)
