Maybe this is too much information and just will scare people off, but I am looking for friends that take psych meds. I was diagnosed as Bipolar in 2001 and have gained over 150 pounds. I take a lot of psych meds that make weight loss very difficult and I was wondering if there was anyone out there in the same boat? it makes losing weight quite challenging and I would like to become friends with anybody facing the same situation. I think the extra support would be quite beneficial as it is a struggle just to take the meds everyday anyway. Please feel free to add me as a friend and we can support each other on this journey. Thanks, Jacki

I'm in the same boat. Let's paddle together. Send me a friend request. I don't have time to add details now, but will fill you in later. I started Seroquel three months ago and have gained 40 lbs. Yesterday the doctor added Depakote (as a migraine preventative) and that is also a weight gainer.

    Would love to be friends.

Yeah ME! Anti-psychotic medication here! Gained 61 pounds and removed 29 so far, and still taking risperidone. It is possible. Most psychotropic drugs just change your hunger levels (actually, they just remove your ability to feel full after a meal). Weight loss is certainly possible as, fortunately, our metabolism remains largely unaffected. Portion control and fighting the tendency to overeat has helped me loads.

I have just joined I am on psych meds too, but I don't know how to add anyone as friends. Please add me as a friend if you would like to. I know they have had alot to do with weight gain. I gained weight when I was on risperidone, and the doctor took me off of it, but that was a few years back, so cant really remember to much about it.
