I never minded being "short" but I have always had problems with keeping my weight down. PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian syndrome) didn't make it any easier. I had tried just about everything in the book (aside from taking weight-loss pills) including a high protein "diet," juicing, veggies only, pre-made proportionate meals, calorie counting, meal size moderation, increased exercise and decreased calories. Even if I lost weight it was never something I could repeat, maintain, and my size only went UP. When one of my friends lost 30lbs with Leanness Lifestyle University I was convinced that I would eventually go through that same program...boy was I in for some MAJOR education! At 144 lbs I was ready to get going.
LLU was NOT a lose-weight quickly, drink this juice or eat this processed and pre-packaged meal until you hit your desired weight, diet. It's not something where if I merely followed the rules I'd see success. It's not for the faint of heart either. It was a deliberate decision to commit to 19 weeks of education, training, and habit breaking. Founder David Greenwalt's philosophy of addressing the physical, nutritional, and emotional aspects to health and wellness set me up to not only lose 25 lbs but to educate me (and my fellow LLU students) about making smart decisions both in and out of the kitchen, and not getting lambasted by crafty wording on food labels. It's something that I can continually repeat. Since completing the program I have gained 5 lbs back. However, I've successfully maintained that weight 4 months after completing the program in June and have the right tools to be successful no matter where I go or what menu/activity choices are presented to me. It wasn't about temporary modifications to my current circumstances. It was a lifestyle paradigm shift that has equipped me to make consistently good choices that effect my my physical and emotional wellbeing.
