Some jumped the shark. Some got cancelled. Some the writing the faltered

Arrested Development - Three great years and then cancellation. The rebirth in 2013...failed

MASH - Three great years and then it Alan Alda got too preachy

Modern Family - Three great years and then the writing just took a nose dive.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Five great years? Thoughts?

The Office - 138 great episodes. 49 that really sucked after Michael Scott left. Also, took a hit when Pam became confident.

^ Agreed!! I can't handle Ashton Kutcher on that show.

I'm with the OP 100% on MASH... I can't even watch it anymore. When I was 12 Hawkeye Pierce was my hero; now I can't stand the sound of his voice because he never shuts up.

I haven't seen the others the OP mentions... no, really... so no opinions on those.

Modern Family is the best sitcom of all time in my opinion. Not sure why you think the writing got bad, but you are dead to me now...

Agree wholeheartedly. What a let down that last season was.

Law and Order SVU till Stabler left. Now its kinda awkward and forced half the time.

I agree whoever said the office till Michael left; I hated the most where the dumb boom guy was all trying to be a real story. But the earlier turning point for me was Pam and the 2nd child I wanted to punch her half the time.

I liked Flash Forward, it wasn't out long but it was pretty good. The way they wrapped it up was pretty hilariously awful since it was over.

That's what happened with Dexter. The last season, and then the last episode, were so bad that it retroactively ruined my memory of the whole series.......which is difficult to do given the genius that was Season 4 (John Lithgow - Trinity Killer).

I got into the second season when I realized that the show was just Ted moping and whining, and Barney trying to pick him up (didn't really care about the other characters).
Once I recognized the formulaic pattern they established, and became annoyed with it (annoyed mostly with Ted.....loved Barney) I bailed.

Just when I think I can't watch it anymore.......it keeps drawing me back in.
I enjoy the stuff they throw in at the macro level, and somehow they found a way to make me care for a different character each episode (except Chevy Chase's character.......Jonathan Banks taking his spot fit perfectly).

    1. Any show where Ted McGinley is cast, or
    2. When a cute little kid is added (see Different Strokes (Sam), Brady Bunch (Oliver) or Family Ties (Andrew).

Nope, I still find myself hysterically laughing at the gang's antics.

As much as it hurts to do so, I have to agree. The rebirth was just poorly executed, mainly due to working around everyone's schedules, and the patchwork story line was just agonizing.

I like the show. but it could never find the ratings. i didn't see any episodes after Donald Glover left. Not really because of that, but because I could never find it.

You can't honestly say that last year's shows were up to par with the first four years

I can honestly say that I laugh pretty heavily on nearly every episode. That's good enough for me.

I agree. It was great before cancellation though.

I think I like it more because I live in Orange County, and recognize so many of the stereotypes. So many characters could be related to my ex...

    And to add a few:

    Sex in the City
    True Blood
    Spartacus
    Heroes
    Alias
    Dollhouse

and I know I'm going to catch a bunch of slack for this but....
    Battlestar Galactica
Firefly (just the last few episodes started to wane - but the movie made up for it!)
