Not losing weight.

Hi all,
I am having a terrible time losing weight and keeping it off. I seem to lose five pounds and gain four of them right back. Is anyone else encountering this problem? I eat around 1200 calories a day but sometimes eat more. I admit that I have had a couple of "treats" that I shouldn't have but when I log (and I log EVERYTHING), I am still in the 1200 mark.
My exercise isn't the greatest, but I don't stop moving for long. I chase a two year old around and am playing with him regularly. When my older children get home from school, I play soccer, frisbee, etc.
I have recently read that having more friends will help you lose more weight when compared to trying to do it alone. Do you think that I just need a workout buddy or support?

Work out buddy can't hurt, of find a video that doesn't kill you. That way you'll keep doing it. Maybe Leslie Sansone she's not bad to start with. Also could be that you are actually eating too few calories.0

The key to weight loss is consistency. If you're having troubles, lock in your nutrition and be more consistent with exercise. If you're fairly active, you probably need to eat more than 1200 cal/day. That is not enough food for most people.

make your "cheat so often" a once a week treat instead of a cheat.
for me, i find its about perception. instead of "cheating" and putting a negative spin on it, build yourself up and "treat" yourself. once you cheat, mentally you accept the breaking of rules and might find it hard to stop.

I don't know how to open up my diary. I will browse this site a little more and try to get comfortable with it. I have been using it to log my food and exercise only and I apologize for that. When I tried increasing my calories I gained around 15 pounds in two months (I went to 1600-1800). Any recommendations for a new calculator to use to determine intake amount? I used the one on here and that's where I came up with the 1200 calorie goal.

The most important tip I can give is accurate logging. Use a food scale for all solids - measuring cups for liquids. Log everything you put in your mouth. The more accurate your diary, the better results on the scale.
