Need support from those traveling this tricky road

Before joining mpg I began this journey at 458.4 lbs. After 16 months, I lost 97 lbs. Long story short, I have bounced up and down as much as 23 lbs. I can easily gain 10 lbs in a week. My success has been related to logging in 2-3 Times a day. Strict vigilance, but the first time I miss making an entry, I go haywire. I would appreciate help from any of you who have figured out how to stay motivated.

I wish I could say I have figured out how to stay motivated.....I"m trying....logging is important...and counting even when you go over so you have an accurate record to refer to....I'm a lot like you.........obsessed in the beginning.........vigilant..........but once it slips, it's tough

It has to begin with your commitment to reach a destination at some point in the future - decide, who do you want to be?
    - I created a visualization to help me stay on track. I pictured myself laying on my basement floor, fat, unhealthy, and badly wanting out of that basement. My goal is to crawl my way out, climb the stairs up to the second floor, into the attic, out the window to sit with my two grandsons on the roof to gaze at the stars - a healthy slim new version of myself.
    - Now as I am progressing it helps me tremendously. The 100 times a day I need to remind myself why I am making the tougher decision I picture both that end goal looking at the stars with my boys and exactly where I am on my journey. So far I have climbed the basement steps and I'm on the 4th step going up to the second floor. Still a long way to go, but I've come so far.
    - When I do stall on a step and even take a step or two backwards, I remind myself that I started on the basement floor and I'm a long way from there. I brush myself off, decide again - who do I want to be? and move forward.
    - You can do it! - decide

Find accountability. If it's just you, you'll let it go. Get a lot of friends and post updates and things. That way, you'll feel more motivated to do the right thing when you know others are keeping tabs and are there for you

I agree with the above. As someone who was at 240 for years, then ballooning to over 300, then losing until I was 160, back to 240, and now at 232...yeah, it is definitely a tricky road. The last 7 pounds lost were directly related to the fact that I have been coming on here and consistent with not only tracking but supporting the friends I have on here. When I read about their journeys, their days, seeing their diaries...it really helps me.

do you use the MFP app on your smartphone? If so, there is a feature to remind you if you haven't logged in a while (like if you haven't logged breakfast by 10AM). Maybe that would help you keep on track.
