HELP! I've gained half my weight back... :-(

Me in a nutshell: I had Lapband Surgery in September 2009. I lost 105 lbs. I had a tummy tuck 2 years later to remove 14 lbs of excess skin. My lowest weight after all that was 175. I'm an emotional eater that apparently never learned how to deal with food vs. emotions. My grandfather passed away in 2010 and I gained about 18 lbs during the year long grief process/depression. Then I started nursing school and gym time/healthy eating went out the window due to constant studying and weekly schedule changes between classes and clinicals. So, now I'm in my senior semester (graduating in December) and my schedule has severely calmed down. I'm on the right path...starting again at 226 lbs. I got a Fitbit and I'm fairly competitive so right now I am motivated to "beat" my steps each day, etc. I'm being very careful to calculate my calories but I know low-no (bad) carb and high protein is ideal for bands.

My biggest problem is finding the time/money to cook healthy meals. Being as though I am so many years out from having my band, fills no longer do much and I am no longer full after the 2-6 ounce meals that I was initially losing weight from. So what I am hoping I can get from the other "members of the band" is how do I get back to the basics? How many calories should I be taking in each day and what should the portion sizes be? Do you have any inexpensive recipes with nutritional info that you could share? Thanks!

Find a therapist that specializes in eating disorders.

Why wouldn't fills work any more? Get a fill, make your pouch smaller = you will eat less.

Your problem isn't recipes or portions, your problem is emotional eating. You said so yourself. Get thee to a therapist, seriously.

I had a lot of sucess with using cognitive behavior therapy. I used The Beck Diet and it helped reframe how i'm thinking. Things like "just because I'm stressed doesn't mean I have to eat. I will eat again in a few hours. I need to remember this If I want all of the advantages of losing weight. "
As far as saving time/money I'm just pretty boring and make/eat the same thing over and over. I make 1 thing on Sunday (lentil soup) that I eat for Sun-tues. Then breakfast for dinner (eggs, etc) wed-fri. Then taco salad sat-mon, spaghetti squash and meatball tues-thurs and cycle goes on and on. Its much easier for me to only cook every 2 or 3 days...

I second the suggestion to get yourself to a therapist who specializes in eating disorders. Even if it turns out that you don't have one, she can help you sort out your issues with food,

Lots of people who have those surgeries gain the weight back. For some, there are physical issues and for others, there are eating disorders that were never dealt with.

It's time to deal with the cause and stop the yoyoing! :)

Don't beat yourself up over this but also, don't allow yourself to gain the rest of the weight back. Try to get back to a routine - the simpler the better. I see that I lose weight during the weeks that I keep a good work routine and plan out simple meals.

A lot of people recommend the website Skinnytaste - it's a great website. Hungry Girl is also a great source of good recipes. Suggest joining a weight loss support group such as TOPS or Overeaters Anonymous. I'm in TOPS and it's been great. The weekly weigh in and support from other members are a tremendous help.

And agree with others - talking to someone about the emotional eating is a great idea.

Try to take your diet in a properly plan manner, so that you wont get back your weight. It is also happen due to stress, and junk food eating, stay away from all these unwanted things. Complete your sleep and drink lots of water as well.
