Looking for a new gym, should I go check out PF?

I was just reading this article.

I'm thinking I might try out a PF and see how it fits for me.

My goals are to get stronger, and increase my cardio base. However, I don't want to do anything like the track, or bike, and I definitely don't want to deal with sweaty dirty weights.

Hmmm. I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not.

I belong to a Planet Fitness. Most of what this article says is true, in that they do not have heavy weights or nutritional guidance, and that they have big TV's and give away free junk food.

None of that matters to me. I do strength training at home but I do not currently have the space for a large piece of cardio equipment. So I basically rent that space from PF for the bargain price of $10/month. I run outside through the nice weather, but I use their treadmill or elliptical when the Chicago winters get the best of me.

It is perfect for my purposes.

Obviously if you have different purposes, there are other gyms that may be better-suited for you.

From a business perspective, I think PF is pure marketing genius. They are appealing to a part of the population who would not otherwise consider joining a gym. Instead of competing with "real" gyms for customers, they created their own customer segment.
