Suddenly gaining belly fat

So I'm losing weight, but my belly is growing. I don't think it's bloating because it's consistently getting bigger. There are even new stretchmarks. Zero chance of pregnancy. I don't get how I can be gaining fat while losing weight. Has anyone else experienced this?

Have you actually done measurements? There's a good chance that, if you're losing weight, it's coming off of areas around the belly, making belly look bigger ... measurements would tell you what's going on.
And it is possible for stretch marks to appear when you lose some weight, even though they were created when you gained.
Keep eating at a deficit and don't give up. If you're losing weight, it's very unlikely that you are actually gaining fat.0 -
Are you measuring your belly and know this for sure?0

I have measured my belly. My waist measurement is about 34 when it used to be 33.0

Sounds scary to me - no chance of pregnancy but have you been checked out for tumours, growths or retaining excessive fluid/edema? If it's legitimately getting bigger (and not just appearing bigger because the rest of you is getting smaller) then you should definitely see a Dr.0

YEP!
If it were me, I'd give it a few days, but you may be dealing with something outside the scope of diet and weight loss.

I had a pelvic ultrasound in January plus a regular pelvic exam which involves poking around and feeling my ovaries. So I know everything down there was, at least at the time, okay. But this is a recent development, so I don't know... I have a gyno appointment very soon, should I bring it up?0

I would see a doctor. This does not sound right to me at all.
And yes, I'd definitely bring it up at your gyno appt. Never hurts to ask.
Still, see your GP and ask.0 -
It is possible it could be fluid building up in your abdominal cavity for some reason. If so, that could be a serious condition.0

An inch can be water retention. TOM?0
