I am heading to the doctor tomorrow for a physical and will ask this question at that time as well. I am just curious if anyone else has experienced this.
I started my lifestyle change in June of 2010. Prior to that my period has been very regular. When I began working out, I was doing high impact aerobics 6 days/week. It made sense to me why my period was irregular at that time. Due to bad knees, that workout phase was short lived. Since that time, I have been doing fairly moderate cardio 3-4 times per week with strength training 2-3 times per week. 2-3 full days of rest each week. I haven't had my period since about the first of February. I also haven't lost much weight since then either even though I have been working out and eating pretty well.
Anyone have any ideas as to what would be wrong?

I have experienced irregularity with both period ( late by 7-10 days ) and bowel issues. I have been working out since January 2011. I, too, attributed it to my exercise and cutting the caloric intake. Will be curious to see what your dr. says.0

the last 2 months, mine has been off too by 35 & then 38 days. not prego, but i've always been regular (always 28-30 days) & i got lazy on here for a couple months & wasn't really exercising, though i was still eating around my caloric goals, the scale hadn't budged much... so i'm thinking the months of exercise & healthy eating caught up with me? i'm waiting till one more late period before calling the gyno to talk it out. i looked around online & found nothing useful. it's a little worrisome.

I started losing weight and working out *more* in January of this year. So far, I have had 1 "normal" period, one that lasted 10 days, one that was 4-5 days (which is normal) but was pretty light, and this one....which is early...and going on the 4th light / spotting day. It is pretty damn frustrating.0

Thanks for your replies ladies.
Really? Nobody has had this problem and knows what went wrong?0 -
your doctor will tell you that you need a certain % of body fat in order to have a period. you need to figure that out (if you work out at a gym they are trained to take the measurements correctly).

this is just an article i found after typing in "body fat and menstruation"
if you are in a healthy range then that changes the kind of conversation you need to have with your doctor about other factors possibly at play. If your doctor does not know, its time to get a new one cause you are young and should still be menstruating. Least i suspect you should be.
please reply back with outcome if you can cause i am curious and teeny tiny concerned. maybe this is your new normal, but you should find out.0 -

Yep, I am 32. I should be menstrating. I also do know because I have had body fat tested a few times. That I am currently around 23% body fat, which is in the healthy range.0 -
turned out the period i thought i got on a 38 day cycle was just spotting, bought a test & not prego... where is my period? i'm going to test again monday & make a dr's appt either way. deff concerned. 8 days late now! i'm bloated & having cravings, but no real cramping or anything

& deff still very much within a healthy BMI, so i'm sure i haven't just lost too much fat & i haven't had any extreme changes in the past month... i've been on mfp since december.0
