studying and nibbling

Could you please help me with my problem? I'm currently pursuing my phd and I'm sitting almost all day long in front of my computer. And of course, I cannot stop nibbling and not only on fruit... I am 20 kilos overweight, but I cannot control my self. How I can forget about food? I wish I could limit myself below 1200-1300 calories, but I easily reach 1900. The most workout I can do is about 30 minutes fast walking on my treadmill. Is there any idea of how to forget about food, or perhaps of something really light to nibble on constantly?

What are your nibbling on? Sweet? Savoury?0
-
mostly savoury because my cupboards are quite empty. I can only find things like bread, cheese, rice, tuna... The problem is not the quality but the quantity!0

Celery, carrots, chicken, popcorn... I've heard of a baked chickpea recipe but never had much success with it myself.0

You could also try sipping on water and chewing gum - it certainly sounds as though it's a case of eating through boredom rather than hunger.0

Crunvhy vegetables (carrots, cucumbers, etc) are your best bet.
On the other hand, maybe you should rather eat actual meals (5-6 smaller ones) and try to control the mindless nibbling by drinking water or tea instead.0 -
Logg1 it's true. I'm not feeling hungry. I'm sitting and trying to concentrate and I'm constantly thinking of food as a treat to my hard work. IvyLuci I'm drinking a lot of water, coffee and tea. Perhaps I could try popcorn and chickpeas. Although I would prefer a brain surgery, since I feel addicted to food!0

This is emotional eating, it'd be healthier in the long run to deal with that.0

how can I deal with emotional eating instead of finishing with my phd?0

You think it's a binary situation? I.e. you believe that either you complete your studies or you deal with your emotional eating?0
-
you re right! However, which is the road to treating emotional eating? Is it psychotherapy?0

I think you're probably right. I know that Paul McKenna has done some stuff on it.0

Thank you. I'll try to find more about him and his method, although I can hardly find any time to spare... Thank you all for your help!0

I'll try the gum option, too. Thank you!0
