you're not going to get anywhere near what you paid for them, that's for sure. I sold mine to a jewelry store in the local mall.. I got about $400 for a diamond a little less than a .5 caret along with the wedding band and enhancer band -- the set cost about $2000 at time of purchase. I bought a tablet with the money and never looked back!0

I sold my platinum diamond engagement ring and wedding band for $600....cost about $2000....was going overseas for a holiday so the money came in handy.....better having the cash then the rings sitting around collecting dust....0

Lizzie, why don't you get them reworked into a new piece of jewelry? The others are right about the loss of value in the jewelry if you sell it.
Unless, of course, you REALLY need the money - I'd try and get a professional valuation if possible before selling them though to make sure you're not getting ripped off.0 -
Thanks everyone did think of having the diamond re designed, but sentimentally i would always see it as my engagement ring, and what it represented....F***K that!, it's over!
I am selling it, just don't want to get ripped off....0 -
1. DON'T go to a pawn shop. You will get next to NOTHING for your rings.
2. Weigh your rings, check out http://goldprice.org/ for the current market trading price for gold to get an idea of the price of gold.
3. Go to a legit gold/silver broker. You will get a better price even though you will be paying a commission/fee.

I still have mine. That's why I haven't sold it. I figured one day, I will decide what to do with it. I do understand you not wanting to redesign it though. My sentiments exactly.0

yep my mom wanted me to get it redesigned.. (I actually loved just the ring/enhancer combo as it was, but too "wedding-y" to wear as is. And who wants the hunk of junk reminding you of what was but is no longer. Get the cash and spend it on something you've been too stingy to spurge on for yourself.0

But....is that your baby in your profile picture? Did they come from the marriage that is now over? Do they care about the ex? What if one day they could use the diamonds in their own wedding set? Idk...im saving my original for the future. Maybe one of my kids would want it, or use some of it. My sisters wedding ring is an original design using her hub 's gma and great gma rings. Its beautiful and holds generational value. Just an idea....0

It's actually my son in the picture, we are both wearing pink wigs having run the Race for life in aid of cancer research, he is wearing my friends wig who did it with me. He isn't a biological son to my husband, tho they remain very close and are in daily contact. I doubt he would need the diamond which is 1 carat solitaire. I want to sell it, but for a good price, have bills to pay and uni fees...0

In the same position but am waiting until the divorce is final before selling it. I know I won't get much money for it - but really? Changing it into a pendant or another ring seems... wrong somehow.
I'm sure the next guy I'm with wouldn't appreciate me wearing a form of my engagement ring around. And also - what if he couldn't afford a bigger stone if we were to get engaged? Would it start to instill insecurities? I'd like to think the next guy will be really secure - but still, why borrow trouble?0 -
I went to a high end store to get rid of some old jewelry and bags, the woman behind the counter was eyeing my engagement ring. She said "If you ever want to get rid of it, I'll give you $2500 for it" I laughed thinking she was joking but then she told me she was being completely serious. My ring was somewhere in the $30,000 price range. I ended up walking out, not because she low balled me, but because I was upset she was trying to buy my ring that I wasn't there to sell (husband and I are happily married!)0

I sold mine on consignment at a jewelry store that sold estate jewelry. I got half of what they sold it for but really I didn't care as long as I got something and someone else did the work for me0
