It's a never ending cycle :(

Hi. So I was 2 pounds away from my goal weight about a month ago (yay!) but since then, my eating habbits have greatly changed and I have gained about 3 pounds!! (So now I have 5 pounds to go :( ). I am a huge stress eater and being in Uni, I stress eat a lot. I tend to binge about 1 or 2 days a week. And I feel aweful up untill 2 days after the binge. I say I am not going to do it again and I do well for 4 or 5 days, but then the cycle repeats! How do I break it? My motovation just goes down the toolet when I'm in the "binge" mood.

you need to find other ways of dealing with your stress instead of eating your feelings.

Have you tried something like meditation or yoga or tai chi when you feel stressed out? They might really help you get your stress under control so that you don't want to turn to food anymore for comfort. They are great for anxiety too.

Binge eat on some fruits and veggies. I use to binge eat the hell out of some potato chips. I'd eat a whole bag at a time and not think twice. What did I do to change that? Never bought chips again and if I feel the need to binge it's on some grapes and berries. I can eat a lot and it doesn't really add up to a ton of calories. 2 cups of grapes, 1 cup of any berry you'd like and your looking at like 300 calories, much better than 1,100 I'd get from a bag of chips.

Also as others had mentioned, you need to look for a different outlet for your stress. Half the battle with food is to change your relationship with it. You can't let food control you. Your mind is set so that when stress hits, you automatically go into binge mode. You need to change that and that's something only you can do yourself. Trick is to find something healthy to take care of that stress.

You need to have a different stragey in place and ready for when the binge comes. You need to do something different and you need to have the strength of mind to make the choice. If you are at uni then you should be smart, so try a different solution than the ones that havent been working.

What peanutmanak said makes sense. Also loris sugestion about meditation and anything that is stress reducing and can help you chill/ get things in perspective.
