Damaged Metabolism - 18 yo old (ED)

Hey all. I am 18 years old and approx. 5"8' over 2 years ago. I used to weigh 185 lbs and was quite fat. I set out to lose weight. I knew nothing about what calories were all I knew was eat less and exercise more. So at probably around a rate of 2-3 lbs a week I lost weight and got to 140 lbs. I maintained that for a year and decided to lose a bit more to lean out a bit. I hit 133-135 ish. Everything good so far
Recently this past summer I've had a lot of eating disordered problems and problems with food I dropped to 129 and because of binges my weight fluctuates. I'm currently sitting around 130. Although I don't have an anorexic like weight I am except the physical weight part. Unfortunately because of all this. My metabolism is complete crap. I gain on 1000 calories. I am an 18 year old male. And gain on 1000. I'm wondering what should I do to restore my metabolism and be healthy again? I don't want to gain weight as I'm already in a healthy weight range so I'm pretty confused. And im not too sure how I should do this through calorie counting as my mother cooks my meals and she makes traditional home made food and there is no calorie information for that.
TL;DR: -18 y/o male
-over exercised, used to eat 150 calorie daily
- messed up my metabolism
- Gain weight on 1k calories
- want to fix metabolism

It's a rough estimate. I stopped calorie counting because I was over obsessive and it ruled my life. I've done it long enough to know.
I've tried eating 1000 calories of food that are all packaged such as chips or foods that I can easily account for. Like a banana. I gain0 -
packaged food isn't all that accurate, plus it isn't the best fuel for your body typically. If you seriously think you have a problem, go see a doctor/nutritionist. No one on this board is going to be able to help you.
Otherwise, I call BS. You don't gain weight on 1000 calories - your food count is wrong. You are not the exception to the rule that somehow generates energy from within.0 -
I think the best thing you can do for yourself is go to your doctor. He or she can get you started on the road to recovery by hooking you up with a counselor and nutritionist.0

Packaged food isn't accurate? So a 160 cal Doritos bag isn't 160 cal.
Trust me it is very well possible to have your metabolism drop to that low if you starve yourself for months on end. Look at other people with ED's.0 -

no, it is more than 160 calories. The weights are not exact. They are usually slightly more than the weight listed.
Like I said, if you have a legitimate eating disorder, you need to seek professional help from someone that is qualified to help you.
However, you are wrong about the starving without losing thing. That is why anorexics are so underweight, and people in distress DIE of starvation. What you are trying to get me to buy off on is that you are starving and NOT losing weight. That is BS.0 -

Congratulations on your weight loss.
Please make an appointment with your doctor. I think it's brave that you've recognized your eating disordered behavior and would like help with it.
Packaged food is not that accurate. If you put a snack bag of chips that says 150 calories for 28 grams, pour the chips on the food scale, it almost always comes out to more.
My yogurt is 80 calories for a certain gram count, but guess what? I pour it into a bowl on the scale, weigh, and it's less.
Those bananas? No such thing as small, medium large. You can have three bananas that look the exact same size and they will not weigh the same.
I also doubt you gained weight on 1,000 calories. In order to literally be starving, you have to be underweight and have lost a certain amount of muscle mass and body weight.
I am pretty sure your calorie estimations are way underestimated, which is pretty normal to do when you are not keeping track. However, I and other disbelieving people could be wrong, which is all the more reason to get to the doctor. You want to make sure there is nothing medically wrong with you.
The best of luck!

When you're on a very low calorie diet, your body can't maintain as large a store of glycogen as it would otherwise. Increasing your calories restores some of that glycogen supply. And glycogen binds water, so your scale reading increases all out of proportion to your caloric intake.
One of the reasons very-low-carb diets produce a rapid and relatively large initial drop on the scale is that your glycogen stores are depleted and you shed the water they'd previously bound. What you're seeing is the opposite of that. In neither case is any significant amount of fat being lost or gained.
You're going to have to just suck it up that you'll see some scale gain as you return to healthier eating habits. I wish I had some words of wisdom for you, but I don't. I'm having to re-lose at a much, much slower rate than last time because the rush of fast loss and low numbers is almost exactly as addictive to me as eating junk is. Do the best you can. Don't be too hard on yourself. Don't do things you know make you crazy.0
