Hey after some advice(4 weeks in)

Hey guys and girls. So ive been doing really good for 4 weeks, Very consistent with my calories and exercise but I dont seem to be losing weight very fast at all. Now im not expecting 5lbs a week but 1.5-2lbs is what i set it at so i expect that. Im 5ft7, 26 male, i weigh 16.2 stone. I have been eating 1850 cals a day now im really worried that it was way to little. I weight train mon/tues/thur/fri. Wed is football for 1 hour(hrm says 1000cals). I also will run 4 miles usually twice a week. I dont tend to eat my calories back as i feel like ive burnt that fat, why put more cals back in my body(maybe wrong approach) I looked up my Tdee on scooby and it says to eat like 2600 a day :O. That seems rather high... I dont know for sure though thats why im here. Ive lost 6lbs in 4 weeks btw so its working but this week and the 2nd week i lost nothing pretty much. any help appriecated :D

I don't quite understand... You have lost 6 lbs in 4 weeks. Your goal is 1.5-2lbs/wk. Your actual progress is 1.5lbs/wk (6lbs/4wks). What is the issue?

Sounds like your plan is working just fine.

I agree sounds about right. You didn't put the weight on really fast, so don't expect it to fall off really fast either.

Hi, I guess it seems fine but I have it set to 2lbs a week. I just feel that after like 5 days I e either gone up in the scale or not budged most weeks. Yes I have dropped 6 lbs but it should surely be more consistent? Do my stats sound right and also my calories cause I'm also concerned ill plateu fast if I eat to little... using tdee it says 2300 cals and myfp says 1850 but I never eat back calories. What should I do???

Try eating back half if you're going the MFP route.

I do not use the other site and don't know anything about that.

If you feel worn out, are hungry or dizzy, you should try eating more, for sure. If you feel strong, healthy, energetic and exercise daily, I see no reason to force-feed yourself.

The best person to advise you on your health, though, is the doctor. No way that I or anyone here would be in a better position to do that than him. Everyone on a weight loss journey should begin by seeing their doctor. It's the smart thing to do, which is why every expert tells you to do that. So, you might give it a shot! :)

Weight loss is anything but consistent.

The MFP method is to eat your goal calories plus your exercise. Many people feel that the exercise calories are overestimated on MFP so they only eat half. Either way, though, you eat (at least some) back. If you are looking at another site that gives you TDEE, that number includes exercise so you will be eating those calories.

Using either method is fine, you just have to find which one you like and then do it. I prefer TDEE-X% because I like to see my total calories available at the beginning of the day, even if I haven't exercised yet. You might feel differently. Find what works for you.

As for whether 1850 calories too low, I don't know for sure. I can tell you that I'm a 38 year old woman who is an inch shorter than you and 70 pounds lighter and I eat 1825 4 days/week and 2175 3 days/week and lose a half pound on average. You have youth and being a guy on your side so I would think that you could eat more and be fine and still lose 1+ pounds/wk at this point.

Very helpful advice so far thank you. I think if I'm honest I chosee what I thought was the fastest route but after 4 weeks I'm kinda seeing that eating 1850 a day probably isn't that realistic for me to consume for the neXT couple months or more. The tdee method also looks good for me cause I eat low calories all day cause sometimes can't workout until night. Then I wont eat back as it's stupid to eat so late in my opinion

Don't worry about eating too little based on the calculations and logs.

I just ran your numbers on scooby's site. TDEE shows 2579 for sedentary. So, if you eat less than that, you will lose weight over time. The only thing is how fast? At 2 lbs/wk, that is a 1000 calorie per day deficit, so you can net 1579 calories to meet that goal. If you are eating 1850 calories, that is RIGHT AT a 1.5 lb/wk rate, which is what you are seeing.

Use your results to determine what you need to eat. Since your numbers match up reasonably well, the calculations are pretty close for you. Every month or so take a look at your actual deficit vs your actual loss and tweak as needed - right now you just need to stick with it and understand what reasonable expectations are.
