paying myself

Okay, I just can't seem to get motivated to lose the last 7 lbs. So, my plan is to pay myself $5 per day if I stay below calorie goal, but I have to give back $5 if I go over. Hopefully this will motivate me to stick to the plan, and generate some cash for a reward (clothes) when I get to goal. What do you think?

I don't think this would work for me, because at the end of a long day I'd end up feeling like another slice of pizza is worth $5 (this is why I have a hard time losing weight and saving money, ha!). But if it's motivating for you, it could definitely work. I have my own reward system of things I splurge on at each milestone (like a pair of shoes, beauty box subscription, etc.) But I have a lot further to go than you, so I need longer term stuff like that.

I don't understand how this would work. If you give back $5 to yourself, that doesn't sound different than if you reward yourself with $5.

If you're paying yourself, you must have the money to begin with. So it's not like you have more money when you're done.

Hey! Use Pact, it syncs with fitbit and MFP, you can set goals for workouts, food logs and veggies/fruits, you get discounted from $5 to $100 each time you don't do it. You get cash when you do.
I've used it, and now I'm under some $ problems so I'm pushing it even harder so the few bucks I've got don't go to waste for my lack of commitment.0 -
There's nothing wrong with your plan, but as an alternative suggestion, give a trusted friend say $100 and ask for half back when you reach goal weight, the other half a year at goal weight.0
