Started P90X3 and am gaining weight and inches?

So I'm on day 6 of p90x3 and I know, it's not that far, but I normally weigh and measure myself on a weekly basis. So I started last Monday but was out 2 days with a serve cold. And before I started my waist was 28 inches and my hips were 32. I weighed 138ish. Today, I weighed 140.8, my waist 32 inches and waist about 28. So I guess my measure to haven't gone up too bad but when I logged it on October 16, I had 26.5 inches on my waist and 31 inches on my waist. I don't know if I was pulling it too snug, or something like that. Because if know early on I was pulling the tape too snug around my waist so some of my measurements are off. So please help. I need advice pleaseee :)

Are you making sure you are taking the measurements at the same spot every time?

As for the weight gain, you're probably retaining water due to your new workout. That's what muscles do when they start getting worked harder than they're used to. Its completely normal.

The measurements are probably just due to the error of tape measuring (meaning pulled a different tightness, in a slightly different spot, etc). I measure weekly and my measurements can be all over the place. I've gotten better at it over time. Either look at measurements more as a trend (meaning frequent measurements, but ignore individual results) or measure less frequently (only 1x a month or every other month). You could also be fluctuating due to your monthly cycle (I'm assuming you're a woman).

Just keep working and pay close attention to what you're eating. Remember that to gain one pound you have to eat 3500 calories OVER your maintenance level. Unless you were gorging yourself silly for the past week, you didn't legit gain almost 3 pounds.

If you bothered to read the booklet that comes with the program you'll see it tells you to take measurements only monthly, not weekly. You will see fluctuations if you measure more frequently than that which will drive you crazy. You need to cut back to your weigh-ins and measurements monthly, not weekly. If you can't do this, then frankly you're too obsessive about it and not in a state of mind to where you can safely do a program like this.

Yea I did read the booklet but I guess I missed that part. And I know I shouldn't be measuring every week but sometimes I just can't help it... I'll try harder this time to only measure per month

Yes, I am a girl. And My cycles been kinda off so that could be bloating, or the water retention due to the new workout. Thanks!
