I never really got into metal, then or now, but I was in the Navy attending training outside Memphis and I was the only one in my cohort with a car... I traded transportation for tickets...
The first concert I attended that was my choice was Rush in San Diego; 1986.0 -

Big Spring Jam in 2003... 4 stages ranging from country to hard rock. Went to see Journey, Alter Bridge, Theory of a Deadman, Shinedown, and Hinder... Heart played the next day, but I didn't get to go back.0
