good luck on your weight loss journey.
the key for me was finding out what the weight was all about in the first place. if i had to start again 10 years ago when i gained the weight i wish i had started there! instead of yo-yoing and then beating myself up all these years!
  • I have an idea what it is and that is what I am working on, eating late and pop

    dig deeper.
you are not 100 lbs overweight because you eat late. (well ok you are, but you aren't at the same time lol)

you need to answer the WHY. why are you eating when you aren't hungry? why are you choosing food and drinks that aren't good for your body? etc.

imo, this is a critical key people overlook when attempting their weightloss journey. people just want to operate in the gut and forget about their head. you can't.
  • That is very true, I have to solve the why before I can solve the what
    Thank you

read Geneen Roth's Breaking free from Emotional/Compulsive Eating. she writes fantastic on the subject and its a short read. it at least gets you thinking and your brain working on what else is going on. don't let the title scare you or turn you away. this book was invaluable to me in understanding the why.

Start with small goals. Don't look at the whole 100 lbs but look at, say, twenty pounds. Then make another goal when you reach your first.

Give yourself a break if you fall off the wagon. We all fall off the wagon. We all have a bad day or even a bad week. Don't quit if it happens to you. Just get back up, dust yourself off and do it again. I guarantee you'll be doing this over and over but as long as you have more good days than bad you'll be fine.

Don't try to do everything at once. Start by learning to eat right, cutting proportions or what you think works for you. Then, when you're comfortable with that, add in something else--like exercise. Don't pledge to go to the gym 6 times a week. Pledge to go 2-3 times a week.

People start off with these grand ideas--I'm going to lose 100 lbs and I'm going to exercise every single day for 2 hours a day and I'm never eating sugar or white flour again--and, imo, that's what makes them fail.

    Start slow and gain momentum.

    Good luck!

beamer - good point. Jose - Congratulations!!!!!
    - One day at a time, one pound at a time. If you're looking to change the whole family, then you will be looking to learn new habits, new foods, new ways of cooking.
Logging can be quite the eye opener as to where a lot of extra calories are.

I'd love to help! Send a friend request if you want friends that want to help, but are not in the same boat.

I wish you well and good health.
  • Hi Jose. I just read your profile and it is amazing you are almost there!!! I bet you feel such a accomplishment. You really have done well Congratulations.
