Need Motivation to Eat Right!

Hello!

My name is Valerie. I am 23 years old, and I am trying to lose about 20 pounds. I don't know when I let myself gain all this extra weight, but I have been struggling to get rid of it. About 6 months ago I realized I had gotten a lot bigger than I had ever been before. And then, I kept gaining. About 1.5 months ago was when I finally hit my largest point. I hate looking at pictures of myself because I was about 25 pounds over weight than my standard. I joined a fitness program and have done great going to the gym, but the food part is where I struggle. I think if I have motivation on here and people who are actually caring about my logs I will eat better. So, I am looking for support and friends on MFP. Please feel free to send me a message. I am ready to do this for real, and I need YOUR help. :)

I love to cook also, so sharing recipes is definitely going to go down.

THANKS. Let's do it!!

Motivation is fleeting for all of us. I suggest instead, that you set some small goals to get yourself moving in the right direction.

Start with daily goals. Set your calorie allotment via MFP, and plan your meals. Stick to it for one day then alternate days of planning with days of doing what you normally do. For the following week, try to plan every day with 1-2 days of not logging or planning. Keep going until you're sticking to your plans consistently. Eventually, you'll be up to weekly and monthly goals. Baby steps to giant leaps. At that point, you can start managing your diet on a smaller scale (balancing your macros, etc.)

A lot of people get discouraged trying to do too much too fast. This isn't a race. The goal should be to retrain yourself to make better choices for the long haul.

Whenever I start to lose motivation or just need a jolt of inspiration I watch food documentaries! Also look up food in pinterest for inspiration!

All you need to do is keep those pictures out.. changing the food to a better diet will be the easy part.. looking at those pictures will be the hard part. I did the change of diet literally last week.. I'm on day 5 and I'm doing it for me. To look great and feel better.. I do my rowing machine looking at exercise TV commercials and the food thing I did according to what I found on line and on here.. I spent the whole Summer 2 hours , 4 days a week in the hot sun fast walking not a single pound came off as I didn't change my diet now the weight loss IS going to happen and I will be the size I choose.. That's my motivation. I got this cute bathing suit for two week in FL and I looked like a tin foiled wrapped potato.. that's not who I am.. think that way and you'll do it!!
