Has anyone tried one of those little contraptions that is just the pedals of the bike you can slide under your desk? I thought about getting one to just pedal throughout the day, this is definitely not in lieu of a workout just something to supplement a little.

I had one .... depends on if you share an office with someone and if it squeaks. Kinda makes one bob a bit whilst seated.

Just used mine actually. I love it but if you have a low desk, you won't be able to avoid hitting your knees as you peddle. I have the Gold's Gym version and haven't had any trouble with squeaking yet. I'm in a cubicle btw and share the room with 25 other people: haven't had any complaints yet :-)

I just started walking every hour at my work. I walk a lap on my floor (huge oblong building) go down three flights, walk across the floor down there and take three flights up to my desk. 5 min walk 8x a day and I get a 40 minute workout in while at work.

haha well I do the same but if I keep it at a nice slow steady pace I can keep that from happening. I really just want something I can do to keep my body moving all day so I'm not sedentary other than the hour I can actually go to the gym.

I have one. I use it when I'm watching anime and movies so I'm not just sitting at my desk not moving for hours. I like it and I seem to be losing more weight since I started using it every day.

thanks for your replies. I was also thinking of getting one, to use while watching tv, you can also use it for your arms if you set it on the desk. any extra movement during the day is going to help......

Interesting....I might have to look into it also. I was walking at work (outside) but now it's starting to get cold, and I don't like walking in the cold. Any movement has to be better than none!

I've had one for several yrs that I got at WalMart. I use it at home while watching tv. I've worn mine out and need a new one.
You can get them that cost anywhere from 40-300 dollars. I even used it post knee surgery.

I have a desk cycle, Amazon had the best reviews, its quiet and low profile, desk has to be a minimum of 27 inches high, As like many of us I sit all day for a min of 8 hours, and need to move a bit more. I have had it about a month, and over the last week I have really stepped it up and biking a min of an hour and a half a day, I keep my pace at 15 to 18 miles per hour and dont sweat too much, I am feeling great and feel like I am loosing inches. Weigh in is on Friday so we will see.

    GREAT IDEA!
I have a work station that includes a mini trampoline. Anything that keeps us moving is terrific!
    ENJOY!

I have recently started using a standing desk.

It really helped with my posture, and while it isn't a workout I'm sure it's better for me than not having one.

Something else to think about? Personally, I don't think I'd be as productive if I was thinking about pedalling.
  • I use a standing desk and a fitness ball for when I want to sit it all helps!

I never really thought of that. I sit all day long. Might as well get a little exercise. I may order one of these! http://amzn.to/1yruQl7 Thanks for the idea!

Ok, after looking at all the junk ones on Amazon. I decided to pull the trigger on one of the more expensive ones. It gets good reviews. Let's keep our fingers crossed. http://amzn.to/1rs9MVY

Mine is quiet. I use it in front of the sofa while watching tv or playing on my tablet. I can cycle at a good pace and resistance for an hour without breaking a sweat.

I like it because it helps my circulation vs. just sitting, and it's a great warm up too.
