Confused - nutritional info of Jack Daniels

I'm debating having a drink, and looked at the nutritional information for Jack Daniels. It lists just calories, and nothing else. I thought, surely there's sugar etc in there? Had a look online, and I can't find anything but a calorie value for it, with 0 for sugar etc.
So does it just contain calories? if so, how is that possible?! just alcohol? no sugar?

A lot of alcohols are listed as 'other' calories ... I've never found sugar content, just calories:drinker:0

Your body still has to process it and that takes energy.0

Don't quote me on this, but I think the calories will come from carbs, not necessarily sugars.0

That's kind of my point - the calories have to come from somewhere. I'm wondering if I'll be well over my carbs/sugar if I have a JD, but then, I can't work out how to quantify it.0

Evidentially, there's no sugar or carbs - they are removed in the distilling process. The calories come from the alcohol.0 -
Thanks TS65, that's what I needed.
Guess alcohol really is the absolute definition of "empty calories"!0 -

But have no explanation of the 288 kj of energy
I can tell you that Jack Daniels comes up in my frequently used list... how sad is that???0 -
Keep in mind what isn't going to be listed is that calorie for calorie alcohol is twice as difficult to burn off. Your body absorbs it differently.0

oh no!! hmm, I've not drunk it yet, but that makes me think twice!
wonder how it is used/burnt off - I'll have to read up on that0 -
Alcohol in of itself isn't reeally what does you in. There are no carbs in alcohol. Even if you think about rum, which is made from sugar, doesn't have any carbs because alcohol is the result of fermentation of the sugar. To put simply, if you have a clear liquor, there aren't any carbs or related sugars.
Then the question is, "What the heck is a beer belly?". First off, yes there are some carbs in beer and if you drink a case, the the excess sugar and carbs will metabolize into pure fat. Add the fact you will eat pretzals (lots of carbs), peanuts (lots of carbs) and people are generally sendantary while drinking... plus you are rather uninhibited about what you are eating at that point, you're going to put on the lbs.
I would suggest avoiding high-carb beers and mixed drinks. And whatever you do, don't drink in excess. Have "A BEER" or "A SHOT".
The thing about diets that suck is that most people feel like outcasts when they go to a party or other social gathering becuase they "have to do without". Actually, you don't... One option that will make you feel your right there with everyone else are the party is making use of the product by Kraft Foods called MiO. It has no carbs or sugar or calories and mixes cleanly in water. They have any number of flavors including Fruit Punch, so if you are into "girly drinks", make your own planters punch by mixing MiO Fruit Punch in a glass of water and throw in a shot of your favorite rum. Few calories, no carbs, no sugar, no cheating... no kidding! But have one or two over the night time and you can feel that you are part of the crowd... because you are. in fact, many other people might just join you. It is that good. But keep it to just a couple so you don't let your guard down. :drinker:0
