I came up with a plan for my goals to make them easier to reach!
My goal is to lose 33 lbs by 33rd birthday!!! (February 26th so I have 4 months)
Here is the breakdown of my goals!
10 lbs by Thanksgiving – November 27, 2014
Additional 5 lbs by Christmas –December 25, 2014
Additional 10 lbs by my husband’s bday – January 22, 2015
Additional 8 lbs by my birthday – February 26, 2015
Anyone want to join me on this!?? I need all the support I can get! Friend me!

Your first goal seems a bit aggressive. If you aim for a steady 2lbs per week, you could lose about 34lbs by your birthday, but you would only lose about 8lbs by thanksgiving.0

I agree but if OP is just starting out she has the benefit of it maybe being a little easier at the beginning. It's almost 5 weeks away so that's just about 2 a week.
However with only 60 to lose I'd agree 2 a week is an aggressive goal, especially as you drop weight.
My 2 cents is if this is going to motivate you and you aren't going to beat yourself up if you fall short and/or get discouraged, or form unhealthy habits to make goal, then it sounds not too outrageous to me.
I have quite a bit more than that to lose and I'd like to lose 33 lbs by your 33 birthday too so I sent a FR Got a lot of trips in there for me and not sure I'll make it but I can sure try. And if I don't make it then I'll at least be a bit closer0 -
Thanks for your responses. I'm willing to work out to make these goals and I'm going to stay positive about this0

If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lb/week is ideal
If you have 15-25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lb/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lb/week is ideal
Note that "lbs to lose" is a bit subjective. One person could need to lose X pounds to get into the "overweight" range out of obesity and another person's X pounds could be to get a BMI at the lower end of the "normal" range. The first person can keep a bigger speed of loss because they can lose more than their goal (adjust their goal to the lower "normal" BMI and suddenly they can stay in the 2 lbs/week range for a longer period of time), while the second person's goal is the minimum weight they can be at, so their speed will decrease quickly.
Another thing to remember is that the first week or two will be the biggest loss. After that it will get slower because your weight is lower and therefore TDEE is lower and you burn fewer calories from doing the same exercises.
You can achieve your goal, but it will be difficult. You will probably need to do more intense exercise toward the end if you want to reach it in time so you can keep up a good weight loss speed.0 -
You have inspired me! I'm going to set a goal to lost 27 pounds by my 27th birthday - which is next July.
Should be well within doable, but between now and then I'll be finishing and graduating college (50 days ), starting as a FT employee at my internship, and moving...again (groan). So I'm going to give myself *plenty* of slack to reach it.0 -
I'd like to join you! I think your goals sound great. My goal is to lose 30lbs by my daughters first birthday (march 26th) I'm going to break it down into smaller goals for different dates too. Good luck x0

Unless she's JUST starting, you get extra pounds off in water weight!0
