HELLO EVERYONE! Just finished my 30day shred from JIll. Absolutley loved it, did 1 month on each level and lost about 32 pounds. I am now moving onto her DVD No More Trouble Zones.. The only thing is, this is all strength training vs 30day shred was cardio incorporated with weights. I still have about another 40pounds to lose, will I still be safe doing strength training, or should I stick to more cardio? I guess my big question is will i still see weight loss while doing strength training. TY<3

Strength training still gets your heart rate up there, so it will still burn calories and all that. However, your actual scale weight loss may get slower, but you'll probably still see your self getting smaller. Muscle (inch per inch) weighs more than fat, so as you build muscle and burn fat, you'll see a bit slower pound loss than if you were just burning fat. Bonus of strength training = for every 1lb of muscle you put on, it takes an additional 500 cals per day just for your body to do it's thing, raising your BMR!

Will you see weight loss with strength training? Well, that depends. It depends on how much fat you have to lose, how heavy the weights you are lift and how much muscle you build.

All that aside... I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend strength training in women and use the heaviest weights you can safely manage with proper form. You will build some muscle (with proper diet - try to eat at least 30% of your calories from protein), which will burn LOTS of fat. You will be lean, lose inches, your bones will be stronger and you will be much healthier overall. Not to mention, strength training will make you look HOT in a bikini.

    So yes, do strength training.

And do cardio.... you want to exercise your heart too. I recommend strength training about 3x week. You can do cardio the other days and/or light cardio on your strength training days if you so desire.

Congrats on your progress so far, you're doing great!

A mix of both is best!

Congrats on graduating 30 day Shred! And a good move to go onto No More Trouble Zones ! It is an absolute butt kicker and you will see all kinds of strength gain from it! I would recommend Banish Fat Boost Metabolism for the cardio (another Jillian great). Both are close to an hour. I haven't tried it myself but ton's are people have recommended her Ripped in 30 as a step up from 30 Day Shred.
