If they do it laproscopically(Sp?) which they probably will, it's not gonna be a huge recovery. I got my gall bladder removed due to gallstones about 3 years ago, the recovery isn't bad at all and the only effects I've had afterwards happen when I eat greasy fatty junk food, which isn't a bad thing lol. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.
  • So sorry to hear you're going through this. My girlfriend had to endure the same problem and it was hard for her to give up fat. The up side if I can offer one, is she has come through the operation fantastically, has dropped a mass of weight and is looking awesome. She says she feels better now then she has in 20 years. Her hubby treated her to complete new wardrobe of clothes =)
Chin up, my prayers and thoughts are with you

My sister went through this . . .same thing. She lost a ton of weight - has never gained it back - and felt great!

but surgery is always scary. Good luck.

I started a thread the other day about gas issues and bowel movements related to the upping of fiber. Well tonight i went to the bathroom after my walk and found all blood i assumed it came from the back end. I was told to go the ER by a nurse... so i did. Everything was fine.. got fluids through IV, etc. But when they did an ultrasound to check my uterus and gallbladder they told me i have gallstones and need surgery... this is gonna be really hard to manage with my lifestyle change because now i can have NO FAT until the gallbladder is removed.

I am really upset i didn't expect to hear news like this.. so for anyone who has been through this or can offer support please do.. i need all the prayers i can get as well. Now i need to contact a surgeon.

I had been having upper stomach pains, nausea, and i thought it was all related to the new foods. I guess not.

    4/28 update:
Hey everyone the surgery scheduler call me this afternoon. My surgery is at 10 am on Thursday May 5th. I have to be there at 8:30 am though.. if everyone could continue to keep me in your thoughts i would appreciate it. Thanks!

I can really relate to this cuz I have always had blood in my poop..it usually happens when I eat red hot chilli peppers stuff..when I do not than its back to normal but I have no pain when I go to the bathroom so I just asked a doctor casually about it, he said try taking fiber supplements and see how it goes, I bought CVS fiber pills and take 5 a day, since than I have not had any blood but i try to keep my spice very low...so far so good for me...I hope everything works out for u.

I am also gallbladder-less. First off - don't worry (easier said than done). It is a fairly easy procedure, and the recovery is quite quick. The diet does suck, and switching to it cold turkey is hard - and more a mental thing i found. I could find the site I used a couple years back but I found a few very smiler.

This is more tips and info:

    Things to avoid:

Chances are, if you are getting surgery so quick, then your gallbladder hasn't been working to great for awhile, so think about detoxing your system IN A HEALTHY WAY (that does not involve purging or anything remotely like that, that is the last thing you need right now)

Drink tons of water. Drink water till you feel like you are going to explode, or become a fish.

I eat pretty much the same now as I did before the surgery, so don't worry about after. You might be more sensitive to some things, but normally (i find) they are things I shouldn't b eating anyway!!!

Take care or yourself, best wishes and try to to worry overmuch. :)

My boyfriend had to go through this last year - he was in a lot of pain prior to the surgery and having the same symptoms you described. Needless to say, after the surgery, he felt monumentally better and is back to living a happy, normal life. Although all surgery is serious - you will be fine, and I wish you a speedy recovery! (:
