80% diet or so I'm told so you can do ;.
I bobbered a knee doing zumba (oh the irony!). Went on to lose about 20lbs by restricting what I was eating.

Do chair exercises found a youtube or amazon on DVD.
You need to be patient with yourself. You are probably a good person and take care of other people. Take care of yourself too. Modify your environment so that you feel calm and stress free.0 -
I have been travelling long with fitness and weigh loss before and then had the misfortune to injure and my, forced to stop my intensive activities. This led to weight gain too.
have been on this roller coaster several times in the past, this year i decided ok, i'm going to do it without exercise. And i have. I'm not very far off goal. I have found the whole year quite easy.
But it is important to get your head in the right space. Ok so let the exercise go, you don't need to stress about that anymore. And by the time you are skinny, your knee should be better and you can take up exercise again if you want to.
So how to get your head in the right place? I don't actually have a secret for that. But keep thinking about what you want to do and the day will come when you are ready. It might be tomorrow, it might be next week or a months away. If you WANT to lose weight, really want to, then the day will come when you are ready to crack on.
At the start of my journey this year, i started off with a one day water fast. It was bloody tough i won't deny it. Anyway you want to find something that really motivates. You can't force but it you can try this and that. Books often do it and one i would highly recommend because it starts off with a fast is French Women Don't Get Fat . Its a lovely book. One of my favourite dieting books. After reading i am much more conscious of using courses in my meals.
Then get yourself focussed with a plan to follow for yourself based on eating lots of healthy foods. Don't reduce your calories too severely. If you stick with a moderate calorie deficit, its easier to do long term. Don't get bored with your food. Get into cooking. I find the activity of cooking gets me off my bum and makes the time fly. If you are not tired, then this is easy. I usually try to start cooking preparing and eating my meals before i'm too tired.
Also avoid stress and depression. Many of us can't really lose weight when you are depressed and stressed unless its really severe and then you've got a different problem.
Anyway you've no reason to let your knee hold you back now, although it pays to remember that it seems most people can't reduce their calorie intake as suddenly as they an stop exercise. Hence why most people put on weight when they stop regular activity.

I understand. I guess you just have to "do it". I'm sure you have gone thru PT with your knee surgery, and your ortho. surgeon can recommend how much walking you should be doing. Just do it. My husband recently had knee surgery, he was adamant about his exercises and was up and walking quite quickly. You can do it. Start slow and go for a walk. My knee is not in the best shape I have arthritis pretty bad in it and an ankle too. I am doing my 10,000 steps a day. Some days it hurts more but overall I feel so much better. I hope I can keep going and avoid knee surgery in the future. Good luck.0

Happened to me. Made me sad that I couldn't do the activities I was used to doing with my bummed knee (running, dancing, hiking) so I just didn't do any. I did myself a total disservice with my attitude. Now, it's been a year since the surgery was complete and I've put on an additional 20lbs. 26 day streak on mfp and I'm down 5lbs. I wish I would have done what you did and came back on here when the weight started creeping back up.
I like what some of the other posters are giving for advice. Good luck.0 -
Just focus on diet. If you are very sedentary due to your knee, set your mfp to the lowest settings and then stick to your diet. The pounds WILL start to come off again and this will cheer you up and remotivate you.0
