try brining some wet hypo allergenic wipes with you to work out..and just use them to wipe your face during your workout..or a all cotton towel. something soft that wont irritate your skin but wipe away the sweat and oil.0

I have similar problems and I am over 40! Really bugs me...anyway, wash your face BEFORE as well as after workout. That seems to help me. I also use a cleanser with salicylic acid. I have issues with sunscreen and breakouts too... so I feel your pain! Gina0

I've been struggling with this same issue since I started working out hard last year. I've always had nearly flawless skin and now I look like a teenager. It's terrible. I've switched face cleansers 2 or 3 times and they'll work for awhile and then I have to switch again.
The only time I get it completely cleared up is when I tan, but that isn't all that good for me. It's so bad right now and I can't get it under control -- so I did start tanning again.0 -
I use to break out lots before too. So I bought AcneFree Sport 3-in-1 sports Wipe. It's awesome and my breakouts have stopped. You can get it in a liquid form but I really like the convenience of the wipes.0

take a towel with you and dab your face when it gets full of sweat and wash your face immediately after working out.
drink more water and eventually you will sweat out all the toxins in your pores and the zits will go leaving your face spotless and bright.....
Speaking from experience here.

I get body acne from working out. Not a ton just a random zit here & there usually on my boobs!0

i feel your pain. It the pits when you have to break out the clearasil and wrinkle cream at the same time. Sorry i don't have any advice.0

I have the same problem! I always shower RIGHT after my workout - but it doesn't matter. They are there when I come up the stairs from the basement and like all of you - my skin was flawless when I sat on my butt and watched television all day!0

Thanks MFP friends I'm glad I'm not the only one, I appreciate all the advice! :flowerforyou:0

I use the same Acne Free product and it works great! I didn't think of the towels, so h
that's a great advice, thank you! However, I have my face acne under control now, but got them on my chest and back. I have been put on antibiotics several times and just today, my doctor put me on a different one...again. It's really frustrating. I bring my towel to the gym, I try to wash off the sweat every tim e I get a drink and a shower right after workout. Not much help though. I have been a gym rat ever since I can remember, so I can't say that I
the toxins will lieve my body eventualy. They already should have! For wa
hat it's worth, Acne free really works! Give it a try!0 -
As an esthetican we see this all the time.. Here are some easy ways to help with this problem and are low cost..
Although the adage has been around for years, the advice is completely up to date. If you find yourself suffering from acne or other skin blemishes, take a look of your body from the inside out.
Your body notifies you when something is off balance, especially when you are lacking the proper nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. This notification can likely express itself in the appearance of blemishes.
When you see a zit pop up, avoid the urge to squeeze! Instead, dab a bit of lemon juice on a cotton swab and apply to the affected area.
The acid in the lemon juice will help extract any infection and your will avoid adding more bacteria to the mix by keeping your hands off your skin.
Since one of the main problems associated with skin blemishes is dead skin cells, exfoliation is critical. Instead of spending big bucks on fancy bottles and containers of exfoliants, grab a canister of old fashioned oatmeal.
Mix with water and scrub your skin clean. The gentleness of the oatmeal is perfect for even the most sensitive skin and the grainy consistency will remove any dead skin cells before they have a problem
Each night, wash your face with baking soda and water. This mixture is perfect for keeping your skin clean and dry. The basic property of the baking soda works to dry up the excess oils that typically cause skin blemishes.
Enjoy and keep working it out...

Where can you find this stuff? I'm willing to try anything. I'm pretty sure the toxins have been flushed from my system since I've been working out regularly for over a year now. I take a shower as soon as I get home from the gym, wipe down with towels that are one use only (so someone else isn't using them first), and I always wipe down the gym equipment so it's not some weird disease. lol.0 -

You know what makes my breakouts worse? Taking any kind of vitamins. I've been on all kinds of multivitamins and ALL of them make me break out horribly! Weird, huh?0 -

You can buy it at Walgreen or CVS...maybe even walmart. Good luck0 -
Had that problem when I first started but had pretty skin after I detoxed... Then they started worse on my forehead, figured out it was from my hairspray (not girlie, I plastered it back so it doesn't get in my face while sweating), now I use headbands. I blot my face while sweating profusely, then shower when I get home.
But I've noticed when I go back and eat crap I see it in my face too... Like right now... And now I'm trying to get back on track, seriously, it's gotta happen!!0 -
I had this problem for a couple of weeks when I started intensifying my workout sessions. I think what made it worse for me, was that having a lot of breakouts made me super stressed! I started washing my face (with a pore cleansing scrub) right after I completed my workout, and that helped a lot. I think once your body gets acclimated to your workout routine, your face will clear up some. Just remember to try to stay stress-free and drink lots of water!0

As already stated, wipe sweat off as it comes when working out, and never allow it to dry on your skin before you wash it. Bring facial wipes with you or a towel will do. Don't wipe it off with your hands. When your skin gets hot from working out, your pores expand making it easier for dirt and oil to clog your pores. Also, when working out large muscle groups you produce hormones, specifically testosterone. The hormonal imbalance could be the cause of your acne. If possible, get on a birth control. That was the key for me. I had the occasional break out when I wasn't very active, but when I started working out again I started breaking out all of the time. I started a birth control and the hormones combined with the exercise has made my skin the clearest it has ever been! Exercise is supposed to be great for your skin, so I doubt its the exercise itself, its probably a hormonal imbalance Have you ever seen someone one steroids? Typically steroids increase testosterone to a very high level, and usually terrible acne comes along with them. Having an off kilter hormonal balance can REALLY effect your skin. Diet can also be a huge factor in hormonal imbalance so analyze your eating and see if you are lacking anything important!0
