How does Monster Energy have 2g of carbs & zero calories?

Does anyone know what the science is behind the zero calorie Monster drink having 2g of carbs per serving? If one carb is 4 calories, shouldn't it have at least 8 calories per serving?

I'm trying intermittent fasting the leangains way (16:8) and it's fine to have zero calorie beverages while fasting, but I'm not sure how this drink fits.

A full can is two servings, which would be 16 calories. I know it's not a huge deal, but I would rather know one way or another - on top of that I'm just curious how that all works or if they're fudging their numbers a bit...

Erythritol is a calorie-free sweetener/sugar alcohol. Our bodies can't break it down. No reason to worry about the carbs in there.

Title 21of the Code of Federal Regulations section 101.60(b)(1) allows any food with less than 5 calories per serving to claim to have zero calories or be calorie free.

It is never fine to drink that chemical-laden shite. If you need caffeine, drink tea, coffee or take a small caffeine pill. Energy drinks give you 'energy' just the same as "Brawndo's good for you, it's got electrolytes".

I understand the perspective, but I don't live by it. There's chemicals in so many things, I do my best to pick decent foods and I don't drink it every day, I'm realistic about the things I eat/drink and I don't stress about a nice dose of chemicals once in a while - I'm going to die in the end no matter what. Don't worry, I don't really think red bull is going to give me wings ;)

I am too following Lean gains. Below is a quote from Martin's site. I would think if you can have a splash of milk in your coffee the 8 calories in a serving of an energy drink is not going to break your fast.

No calories are to be ingested during the fasted phase, though coffee, calorie free sweeteners, diet soda and sugar free gum are ok (even though they might contain trace amount of calories). A tiny splash of milk in your coffee won’t affect anything either (½-1 teaspoon of milk per cup at the most - use sparingly and sensibly if you drink a lot of coffee). Neither will sugar free gum in moderation (~20 g).

If we gave up drinking chemicals, the majority of the beer industry would be wiped out overnight.....

I wouldn't mind seeing Budweiser and Miller go away and being left with just craft beers and delicious imports.

I hear there is hydrogen in water. So you should never drink water because of that chemical shite.
