I can walk from my car to my office again (and run a 5k) :) thanks to HMR

God lead me to the HMR program and I am now in week 11 of Decision Free at OSF St Joseph in Bloomington Illinois. I have lost 78 pounds so far with another 130 to go. This program is giving me my life back. I could not walk or stand more that 10 minutes when I started this journey at 417 pounds eleven week ago. I am now walking and even jogging. I am registered for a Veterans 5k next month. MyFitnessPal has provide much needed accountability and visibility to my choices -- good ones and bad ones!

Unbelievable. Wow! I have no pain walking and I think it is so neat that I can now climb steps and hike in our state parks where before it was a painful struggle to walk from my car in the parking lot to my office. Thank you to the HMR people and the OSF clinic staff for choosing to do what you do. You have impacted my life ... you have saved my life.

I want people to know that there is hope, all is not lost, we do need to accept immobility, disabling pain, missing out on family activities... We can dispense with all of these limitations. I have hope and I want to devote the rest of my life to showing others how to gain Hope.
Keep smiling. :)

Respectfully,
Jon Marler

Also, I am looking for extra inspiration from people who are on this journey, especially those who are letting God lead the way. In any case, keep smiling. :)

You may want to check out the groups for users who more closely match your ideals. I believe there are a few religious groups!

Congrats! That is an incredible loss. What is the HMR Program? I don't think I am that inspiring but something that keeps me going is thinking of losing & fitness as a lifestyle change that will last forever, not a quick fix or starvation diet. Whatever I am doing has to be sustainable, there is no quick fix. Good luck and keep up the good work of getting your life back!!

HMR is a doctor supervised program geared towards lifestyle change. I too am interested in permanent life change. I do like the what the scale is saying but my measure of daily success is this: Did I do the right things today? What can I do better tomorrow? I let the scale say whatever the scale wants to say. Keep smiling. :)

Thank you for the kind words! I am quite shocked at how easy the program is. The classes on lifestyle and managing your environment have been especially beneficial. Let's keep smiling. :D
