So happy and have to share...this morning, for the first time in over 10 years, I am officially no longer in the "Overweight" region on the BMI scales! Woo-hooo!!! I know it's just a label, but it was pretty cool seeing myself in the *green* section finally. :joy:

They're not just labels, they're categories still used by the medical establishment and will be used in the Affordable Care Act to raise insurance premiums against the categorically obese and overweight who have conditions, pre-existing or otherwise, that could be linked to their weight.

So, you have good reasons to celebrate being in the green category, its not meaningless. :)

Funny. I was at 29% body fat a few years back. Even though I haven't lost a lot of weight, I just did another BF test and I am hovering around 20%. Not bad in my book. My goal as always been to be at around 15%, so we will see what the next few years brings.

Where did you find this little tidbit? I read some of the changes on this and only saw a mandatory reward program for wellness and fitness participation, nothing related to an increase in premiums although an additional add on to insurance programs related to wellness programs and smoking cessation may result in increased premiums but might actually decrease premiums as it ensures that covered individuals will be healthier and less likely to use their coverage.

Oh yeah, congrats on your achievement OP. Not trying to steal your thunder.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I'm not a big fan of the BMI index and prefer body fat calculations as they BMI calculated BF based on height as to weight without taking into consideration the amount of actual muscle one has on their frame. It works well for individuals that aren't heavily into strength training but does not function well for guys like me. For example, if I'm 18% body fat but at about 215 lbs, 6'1", I'm showing 28.4 BMI which is overweight. Even if I was to get down to 190, which would mean I would have to get down to probably 10% body fat and cut off around 5-10 pounds of muscle, I'd still be classified as overweight.

Woohoo! I'm hoping to get there someday too, but I'll settle for not being considered 'obese' by the BMI scale. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Awesome job! I still have a ways to go. I'm 6'1" and weigh 235 pounds currently. Won't be in the normal range until I get under 190. Good thing I wanna get down to 180 again :)

Great job. I am almost down to 30 on my scales but I know 25 will pop up if I keep working at it.
