I recently found out I weigh much more than I thought I did, and it's had me kind of down. It suddenly seems like a lot more work than I originally thought.
I'm 5'1, and looking to lose about 30 lbs. I'm sticking to a healthy 1200 calories a day, no excercise right now and I'm wondering if someone with a similar body type can tell me about their results without excercising?

Did you eat 1200 calories a day?
How much did you lose?

Hi! My story is kinda long and stems over 5 or 6 years :) I'm 5'2-5'3 (doctors can't seem to give me the same measurements) After high school when I was 18 and legal bar age, my weight went up to about 162lbs within a year. I had lost 20lbs when I got pregnant with my first. I gained 35lbs with him, and sticking to a diet of 1200-1500 calories with some semi-regular exercise, I had lost 45lbs by the time he was 5 months old, so I was down to 132lbs. 4 months later I got pregnant with a molar pregnancy, and after the surgery to remove it I was back up to my pre-pregnancy weight of 142lbs. 9 months after the surgery I got pregnant again, this time I gained 64lbs bringing me up to 206lbs. It took about 6 or 7 months to lose 54lbs and I held on to the last 10lbs for another 4-5 months when I got pregnant with my 3rd...So I was starting around 152lbs, I gained 35lbs with her and by the time she was 8 months old I had lost 55lbs so that brought me back down to about 132lbs (my body goes to the 2s for some reason haha) she was 10 months old when I got pregnant with this baby, I'm 14 weeks now and I've gained about 3lbs.

All my weight loss success has been when I was active on MFP, I've had a few accounts over the years, I've had this one the longest, my starting weight is the 206lbs I was with my second baby. 1200 calories can help a lot, but I've found that if I got stuck I'd increase my intake by 200 or 300 (healthy) calories and it would rev up my metabolism and get me out of my rut. Of course I was nursing each baby for 9-10 months so my intake was a bit more in those times. To be honest, this most recent weight loss has been with zero exercise...the only workouts I would do is going on walks with 3 of them on the stroller...I'd wear my heart rate monitor and I'll burn over 800 calories in 90 minutes of walking with them. Since I can't lose weight right now, I'm working on losing fat and gaining muscle...I'm that skinny fat, my weight etc is in the normal range but I have zero muscle tone, I blame losing weight with food only rather than food and exercise, but I'm getting there!!

Sorry again for the novel...It's kind of confusing to keep up with!! Oh! I should mention I was 20 when I got pregnant with my first, 21 with the molar, 22 with my 2nd, 24 with my third and 25 when I got pregnant with this one, so they're all relatively close :) I have 100% confidence that you can do this!! Feel free to add me :)

hi, except for the huge age difference, I have been there.
I am 5'1 and 103.6lb today. Five years ago I was 128 -130, had to change scales so not sure.
Until I saw a photo (it is on my profile page) of myself I thought I was doing OK, a little bigger but nothing to worry about. Oh how that photo changed me. I signed up to a calorie counting site and found an exercise I could tolerate, aqua fit (I hate exercise) and never looked back.

My calorie were 1200 per day and aqua fit burned 195cal for each 60 min 3 times a week. I eventually added serious walking, 4-4.5mph, for 5 & 10 k runs (bad leg injury when in my teens doesn't allow running), weights and pilates to get the last few pounds off.
I didn't eat back my calories as my maintainance is something like 1375 so I needed to up my exercise as going below 1200 is unadvisable.

It did take me almost a year to lose the weight, but I did, and it has stayed off.
Taking into account your age I would think that you could lose the weight a lot faster than I did; I was in my menapausal 50's when I lost the weight and 61 now.
My results did need exercise, but until the last 5 lb not too much, and by the time I was close to my goal I wanted the extra exercise to drop the last 5 and add a bit of muscle to my body.

    Hope this helps you,
    Cheers, h.
