Am I okay?

Why is it that whenever I exercise I get very short of breath and then have a coughing fit? I'm pretty overweight, like around 360 pounds and male at 6 foot 2. could it just be my weight?

Exercise-induced asthma perhaps - Best to see a doctor about it.

Is this exercising new and how long are you talking about here? Additionally, did you get the okay from your doctor prior to starting?

Nobody is qualified to diagnose or treat you online.

    See your doctor.

I believe the standard recommendation is that if you become dizzy or short of breath stop immediately and consult a physician. We have had a few cardiac arrests in my city at gyms due to people over doing it. Be safe.

Because you are out of shape. Ease up on the intensity of exercise and stay in calorie deficit to lose weight. Cardio is for fitness anyways.

Often times when I find myself short of breath I find out I just needed to drink more water and this usually fixes the situation for me. But since you said there was coughing involved that makes your situation different then mines. I'd say just to be safe consult a doctor to see what the best way to get into working out is.

My guess would be asthma, or maybe a heart-related condition. Or maybe just overdoing it. See your doctor because you definitely want to rule out the serious possibilities before getting into a vigorous exercise program.

Definitely see the doc. Ease into training.
